Put under for Surgery ? Hello, I am just looking for some input about Peanut being put under for surgery. He has to have some teeth removed because a couple of his baby eye teeth still have not come out, we've tried! And we need to get a microchip, just incase... and have talked about cutting off his little boys (I'm unsure about that one) Anyways, I'm just scared and don't want Peanut to be put under and have something happen. Words of advice are welcome, or just tell me not to worry about it |
I've had quite a few dogs put under, and they were all just fine. I always ask my vet when he works on the yorkies are you sure you won't do something wrong, because their so tiny. He just laughs at me, and says I do have a degree in Vet medicine. |
He will be just fine. I have had two put under for say and neuters and they did just fine. Just make sure they use Isoflorine and not an injectable anesthesa |
Thanks guys, will do, and I'll ask about the Isoflorine and I'm sure I'll do plenty of my own research before taking him in |
Most animals do just fine being put under. Just make sure your vet is knowledgable about toy breeds, and make sure they do all the neccessary blood work before the surgery. I highly recommend neutering your dog if you don't plan to show and breed. And it's best to have everything done at once so he's only put under once. He should be just fine |
I had mine boy done yesterday, I felt sick to my stomach waiting for that ok call, I was so frightened about the anesthesia issues....everything went fine and he's running around today....It's normal to be concerned, their our babies..;) |
Hanna had 10 baby teeth pulled a couple of weeks ago and she did very well, no problems what so ever. I had them do the blood panel before surgery just to make sure there were no problems. |
As long as you have a good vet, they use the isoflorine and do the bloodwork he should be fine. It is still scary and we all are very happy when it is over. |
Zoey had a reaction every time we got a puppy shot. Vomiting and lethargy. I am planning her spayand chip next month. I am so worried. Too bad they dont have depo provera shots for dogs, so they could avoid surgery, but stop the periods!:) Hey, maybe I just had a million $$ idea! YAZ pills for dogs. I could get that annoying girl to do my commercials!:D |
I know exactually how you feel. Aubrey just got neutered and microchiped, and i was a nerous wreck. But remember, its better for them in the long run especially get it done now, or you will never do it. I would see if they can do it all in the same day. |
