"My Trash Can Run-ith-Over" Okay gang, now I'm getting really concerned. Just when I think I have found the food of Maggie's dream, all changes. I read a post about Merrick's Puppy Plate. Don't know anything about that one. Maggie has just about given up on her Royal Canin 33, Bil Jac and Innova. Yesterday, she finally ate a couple of bites and that was it. This morning, nothing. Does this picky crap ever stop and when? I watch her food dish really close. If it looks like she isn't going to touch it all day, I make sure she get some Nutrical. She can't live on Nutrical forever. So, now what? :( I know y'all know the answer to this, and I promise to abide by your answers. Please bail me out of the Trash Can. |
Maggie Yes, it will stop when mom does..sorry, but it is true. The more you change food, the picker they become, ask any vet. Maggie looks like a nice size, not frail..very healthy, beautiful girl. Select a good food. Put it down, tell her she may eat or not eat, it is her choice. She will eat when it is not important to you for her to eat. I have never had a Yorkie become sick from not eating, or starve to death, or come anywhere near it. When I boarded, many would not eat until the second or third day..none got sick, none died. If it was a young, tiny pup, or frail that would be different. Yorkies are smart and willful..some people do not realize how little food it takes to keep them full of energy..their stomachs are like walnuts in size. The pound or Humane Societies will take all let over food..no picky eaters there. LOL Good Luck |
Pat, you are one of the best. I have always taken to heart everything you say. Maggie is my first toy breed, and I'm still adjusting. I will take your advice and stick with it. I am so happy you are a member of YT. Maggie is 4 months old and weighs 4lbs. I assume that is a healthy weight. When she was eating too much human food, she got quite plump. Her vet even said that I should be lucky, that she has some weight on her and not one of those babies that weigh only ounces. He said the babies that are that small have all kinds of health issues. My only issue was the eating, and you have cured that. Thanks Again, Brenda |
Maggie Thank you for kind words...Miss Maggie is sooooooooo Yorkie I would not respect her if she didn't pull these typical Yorkie stunts. LOL A Yorkie must do what a Yorkie must do..we have to outsmart them and it sure isn't easy. |
