Little 'tinkle' when excited? When our 11 month old male Yorkie gets really excited, particularly when my husband or I come home, or my Mom or sister come over, our little guy does a little dribble on the floor. Is this something others have experienced? It sort of seems like it is happening more frequently, though not sure. |
There are a few people on here that dogs did or still do that. From what I have read, they will grow out of that. They are just really excited. Welcome! |
It's generally just a puppy thing that will be outgrown. Thank goodness. You can read more about submissive urination or excitement urination by researching it. If it continues beyong puppyhood, then there is a problem. My present yorkie did it as a puppy, too.:D |
My littlest does that frequently. I ask my friends, and especially my boyfriend, to just approach her more calmly. She can work herself up easily without anyone else helping her along! Plus, as Cesar Millan says, calm assertive energy is the best kind of energy to pass on to your dogs. And I think she does it because she is so tiny (between 2 and 3 lbs), because I don't have any problems with the other doing that. Keeping her calm has definitely been saving my carpets and couches! Best of luck! |
i call it the "happy pee" |
edgar has done it, altho not recently. i was so embarrassed he peed on my friend. she has small dogs also and laughed it off, but he had JUST BEEN OUTSIDE!!!! |
lexi still does that at two years old.. not with me though..mostly outside with children or strangers who want to pet her... sometimes she does it when friend but only when they baby talk her when they see her... |
I thought it was from excitement, when Chelsea was young. She is now 2yrs-8 months old, and it still continues. When we have visitors over, she waits in her crate, approx 20-30 min. then I carry her out to do her business, ONLY then is she allowed to greet the visitors. This system has seriously helped her excitement incontenance. After she was housetrained, I caught her LEAKING  as she slept. She was laying near my computer chair, on her side, and I saw little drops coming out. Occasionaly, she would wake up, with one side of her completely soaked, and her bedding, so I mentioned this to our VET. He suggested I try Proin, half in AM and half in PM, since one can adjust the dosage alone, (as directed by our VET), she is now on a full one, in AM, and half in PM, and is doing much better. No leaks, nor soaked sides. http://www.1800petmeds.com/pdetail.a...2&SP=dog&MG=25 Our vet said its common on spayed females, especially, if they are spayed young, and Chelsea was spayed at 6 months. She has learned when she gets it too, when I brush my teeth, AM and PM, she is sitting, patiently waiting for her chewable pill! |
Hallee does this too. She pee'd on my neice one day when she came over. She just got so excited she was here and pee'd when she hopped up in her lap. Hallee will also pee when she sees me when I pick her up at the groomers. |
Thanks, Chelsea'sMom, Izzy was spayed young too at 5 mos. and when she gets excited playing with the cats she will tinkle just a tad. Good info to know if this continues down the road. |
