A Rude Awakening For Me! I got a call from Adie’s breeder last night. Adie’s fur father was killed in a freak accident. It seems that two other dogs got in to a fight under the dinning room table. William was trying to get away from it and tried to run out from under the table. At the same time another little one was also trying to get away from it but was sitting on one of the chairs. She jumped down and landed right on top of William. One of William’s ribs was broken and punctured his lung. He died before they could get him to the clinic. None of these dogs weighs over 5 lbs. so it was a pretty rude awakening for me. I keep thinking Adie is a tough little snot and not as fragile as others but this was her father! So things like that don’t just happen to other dogs. They could happen to my little fur baby too. I can’t say I will do anything differently because I’m very protective and take all the precautions I can but it sure does refresh my memory as to why I do so. This was no one’s fault though. We must never let our guard down! On another note this also ruins my plans for one day getting one of Adie’s sisters even though I will be able to get a half-sister. The breeder is also keeping one of Adie’s brothers for future breeding so I might even end up with a niece! |
Wow that is so scary :( I know a lady who lost her cat because she was playing ball with him and he ran underneath the kitchen table and hit one of those rungs on the chair and it snapped his neck. So i'm always careful about letting my little girl run under the table. |
Thats horrible, and scary. I am soo sorry. :( |
What a sad accident. :( There are so many freak accidents that could happen that its just impossible to prevent them all. |
I honestly cried. I only met William once but the breeder was so sad! I'm really bummed about the not getting a sister thing. Sigh |
That is so sad and it is so hard to protect them from everything. |
Awww, what a sad thing to happen. I agree, these little guys seem so "tough" in their own minds, we almost convince ourselves that they are less fragile than they are. Max has no issue with jumping and I have to watch him to make sure he doesn't decide to just jump off the side of the bed (which is 32 inches from the floor) and uses the bench at the end. He's not a tiny tiny, and is pretty solid, but still....this is a reminder of how easily they can get injured. I'm really sorry for the breeder and for you, especially since you were hoping for a sibling from the same pair. |
Omg how sad:( Poor baby |
That really was freaky. I'm sorry for their loss. |
