When to begin grooming? I was wondering...at what age should I start getting my baby groomed? He's about 6 months old now....His hair over his eyes is getting very long but if I hold him down for any amount of time he screams & cries like I'm murdering him, so I've given up on trying to trim his hair above his eyes lol |
We started grooming ours as babies, that way they get use to it. :) |
He can be groomed now if hes had his shots |
You can start brushing and bathing when their little to get them use to it. Just make sure you dry them off well. You can get them use to the hair dryer if you take it slow. |
Yeah i've been bathing him at least once to twice a week, and started brushing him recently to get him used to it. I guess I'll take him in once I get all his shots finished up! :) |
Lucy is 20 weeks and went to the groomers for the first time at 18 weeks. We give her a bath once a week or once every two weeks, and she gets brushed daily. Teeth brushed twice a week. and a bow once a week. |
I started Mugzy as soon as we got him...I only try trimming him when he's sleeping, though. He goes to a groomer every 8-10 weeks or so. HINT: Put him up on a surface, your counter/table maybe, and (OF COURSE be very careful) but he may struggle less if he's not in your lap. Also, try rubbing some peanut butter on a plate and let him try to lick it off. You could probably brush him a little while he's distracted. Start with short sessions and lots of rewards for good behavior. GOOD LUCK!!! |
We started grooming (brushing, bathing) Daisy from when we got her (12 weeks) and have only brought her to the groomers' (1st hair cut) at 8 months. We had vet appts just about every month so they'd clip her nails for me...I still can't do them myself! She sqwaks! :) |
We have a 5 month old and she just got her first hair cut a couple of weeks ago. She got a puppy cut but I think in the future I'll ask to have it left a little longer. We don't really care for it being so short. I've had trouble keeping the tangles and matts out of her coat but now that it is so short I think I'll be able to brush her daily and keep it nice as it grows out. Does anyone have any ideas how to keep her coat looking pretty. |
