yorkie pup training ?! My lil Prince Caden is about 3 months old. i've been on many sites on how to train him properly, since i cant bring him to professional obedience classes. Well, i was on a site that had a chart of at what age a yorkie should know certain tricks. it said that at 3 months it should know sit, lie down, come, spin, beg, and dance !! all my baby knows is sit .... BARELY !!! should i try to catch up on his training ? is this site accurate ? i want him to be obedient, but i dont want to push him too hard, you know? opinions greatly appreciated . =] |
 I don't think that age is very accurate at all. I don't even let my puppies go until they are 12 weeks (3 months) old. Most (not all) Yorkie reputable breeders won't, so how would the pups be trained to do all that by then? From my research and experience I believe that they are still socializing at 3 months and it is a great time to introduce them to training.:p IMO-I wouldn't worry about it too much at this age...but I think it's great that you are working on it though. And I think it's great you want to have him obedience trained and you are doing it :p ... and he sits already, way to go!!! :cheer: |
too young! Wow, I was thinking that's really young to do all that? was the site for all dogs, or Yorkies? Most breeders keep the pups until that age, so then training with you beings then. My 4 month old can barely sit still when I talk to him. He has so much energy that I can't get him interested in training. My six month old girl knows a little more, but were just starting really. Good luck! |
Penny's just turning 6 months, and we're working on sit, shake, and rollover. Three months is way to young. |
WOW - I was gonna say that the poor breeders must be REALLY busy teaching a litter to do all those tricks!!! :D |
