help with behavior... I hope somebody could help me.:We live in an apartment complex and i went out to do laundry. So I left my husband taking a nap to load the laundry and left the dogs which I always do all the time. I came back after four minutes with my husband awake and mad. I asked what happened and he said he woke up and felt Cleo on top of his body pillow and felt something wet on his skin. It turned out Cleo peed on him. What was that behavior about? Could somebody help me? My husband was so upset for 5 minutes. He can't stay mad for long because he loves our two yorkies. And by the way ...Cleo and Ceasar are already 3 years old. HELPPPP!!!!:( :eek: :( |

I just googled it, and this seems like a plausible answer: What you describe here seems to be a case of separation anxiety. Lennon developed it when he was a puppy and Sofi after we adopted her. It can also be something dogs develop in adolescense. The dogs go crazy when they are left alone and they do not calm down until you come back, then they are overly exited and may even pee of exitment. Then they calm down as soon as they see you. Sounds familiar? Your dog needs to understand that when you leave, it's not forever. Use a weekend for this. Leave the house and make no fuss at all, then return 5 minutes later and do not pay attention to your dog until she calms down, then praise her and give her a treat. Continue doing it for the day, slowly lengthening the time you are away and in a couple of days she'll get the idea. Leaving the radio or TV on helps a lot, since they do not feel very lonely.. Our guys sometimes even lay down to watch the TV |
thanks Alaska Yorkie Could it be separation anxiety? It's just strange that she would do this. but you may be right, because they tend to be so clingy to us. But they do OK on a daily basis. As long as we will stay with the routine of feeding them in the mornings, we will get ready for work, before we will leave the house at 8:00 we weill ask them to kennel up and they will, we will turn the radio on, and I would drop the treats before we lock up the door. We never heard them bark and never got any complaints from neighbors. When we get home at 6:00 they are of course excited to see us and we will let them out of their X-pen which we put in the middle of the living room. And this is opnly the second time she had done this. Last year she pood on my husband lap too. Now my husband was aking me why she would do it to him and not to me. What do you think? |
