Seamstresses What kind of material, ribbon, or whatever your using do you run down the back of the harnesses do attach the D Ring to? I made Piper some vests, but don't know what to run down the back to attach the D Ring to. |
I usually use the same fabric I made the vest with, then put a ribbon on top of that so I know it is extra secure. |
I've been looking into making some things for Meka. The best thing to do is visit some of the other YT'ers sites... That way you can get an idea of what they use... I found this site the other day (www.sewingcircleofcrafters.com) and they have a few patterns for dog clothing.... and even includes the type of materials to use... Hope this helps. :aimeeyork |
Look in the pattern books at your local fabric stores and you can get lots of idea on what to make and how. All the pattern books now days have a lot of things to make for dogs. Be very careful or you will end up with tons of patterns and fabrics. :D |
Thanks everyone. |

I hope you didn't take this post wrong. I'm not trying to steal anyone's ideas. I was just stuck on one part, and needed some help. |

It depends on what size dog you are making it for, you can use grosgrain ribbon for smaller dogs but overall I prefer to use actual fabric folded 3 times as this seems to be the sturdiest. You want to make sure its as strong as possible ;) :p Another sturdy material is nylon webbing, they sell it at craft stores |
Good for you for sewing vests for your yorkie, I bet they will be great! A few years ago I was a professional seamstress who manufactured pet toys for a company who sews all of it's pet toys and pet bedding in the United States as opposed to most who import from China. I did this work for 14 years. When I read your post I never got the idea that you were trying to copy anyone's work, I read that you were just trying to put a D ring on your vests. And seriously, even if we are inspired by others work even if you just change one aspect of it you are not violating copywrite laws so peek away at anything you can and sew whatever you want(assuming their product has even been copywrited)..........you go girl.:) |
