pup IMO..and many vets, puppies can play in a safe yard, but if you do not have a safe yard..a toy dog can get lots exercise indoors...my girls go out for a total of about 10 minutes a day and they never run around...all their running around is done indoors..and they jump on and off the beds, chairs, couch...they never have anything to jump off outside...throw a ball or toy and your puppy will chase it and get lots of exercise. |
Yeah, the vet is the best person. Our vet told us you can't keep puppies in a bubble during this stage as this is the age they tend to develop their personality based on what they experience and come across during this puppy stage and to keep them indoors during the months until they get ALL their shots will devoid them of certain experience. I personally walked her around my block, which was really clean but I just didn't let her walk on grass, which is where you would find fluid etc. I even took her to yorkie meetups but never let her down to play so she can at least observe doggie behavior in a park. Plus our vet told us vaccinations these days are so good that even with the first set or two, they should have some protection should they come across anything. At the end of the day, it's solely your choice. |
I do a thing with all my Yorkies that's unconventional. I was told by a veterinarian that I trust that giving our small Yorkies the full vaccine is not necessary and can be harmful to them. She then went on to explain that the same size vaccine given to a lab puppy is given to a Yorkie puppy and told me a few stories she had heard of pups getting sick right after being vaccinated and then taken to her office. She told me one died on her table. I don't know, just scary to me. I am not validating this but I have since always had my veterinarian give only half the vaccined dose. It is not any cheaper but I do not have the fatigue or weakness I have heard of other Yorkie owners complain about. As far as exercise I think they get enough indoor or outdoor...until they are old enough. :p |
vaccine I have given half doses with tinies... |
Half dose for the little ones. I do not sell or buy a puppy less than 12 weeks old. I do take all the pups out to socialize but they are in their stroller or carried until all vaccinations are completed. No pet store floors ever. For socialization we play with friends' dogs that are well socialized with little ones. |
