Kitties?? I have to go somewhere today, where the people have one cat. He's really clean and all shots are updated on him. Should I be concerned about taking Coco there? If I kept her on my lap or in her purse, would she still be at risk? Can dogs even contract anything from cats? Just want to make sure she'll be ok there for a couple of hours with me. |
I just posted today about Sully and my cat http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9085 But....they know each other, and Penny is an extremely friendly, easygoing cat, so I know that's different than your situation. I have found that the dog will want to befriend the cat, but most likely, the cat will either go into hiding or just not care. It will only go into "attack mode" if your dog tries to overstep its boundary. You should be ok, just be cautious, just in case. :) If it were me I wouldn't worry. Sully goes to my aunt's house with me all the time and they have 2 less than friendly cats. But, Sully KNOWS that Penny is the only cat he's allowed to mess with...and so he leaves them alone, and they do the same for him. Just one step closer to world peace! J/k |
I'm more worried about the fact that coco is only 15 weeks and needs one last set of shots before she's done. She's getting those and her rabies shot next month =) So should I worry about her health wise? |
My vet has a cat..a FAT cat looks like 40lbs..lol..anyways Maximus tried to attack her tail and all she did was jump down and walk away..she couldn't be bothered with him..so I think it will be okay..she has all her shots right? |
Oh...I don't know about that...I thought she had all the shots..if it's only a hour I would probably leave her home UNLESS she stays in the carrier the whole time |
Should have no problem Sabrina and I visit people with LOTS of cats - some declawed - some not. Sabrina loves to play TAG with them and she has pretty well figured out for some reason which ones cat "hurt" and which ones don't. She never barks/bites at them, they just chase each other, then the cat goes up, the dog comes to me, all's well until the cats get too close to me. At first I kept her lead on her so I could grab/separate them if necessary and told her no, it's just kitties, but dogs will be dogs and the cats just look at her like she's a rat or somethign that's turned on them. |
