Spay and teething question Hi everyone, yesterday we had Paisley at the vet to have her ears checked due to the infections she had. I'm happy to say they are completely gone. :D While there I discussed teething and spaying with the doctor. Paisley is a little over 5 months old now and she hasn't lost any teeth. My Trixie lost all of her teeth around 5-6 months and poor Pia had to have all the baby teeth pulled when spayed. My vet checked Paisley's mouth (the gums) and said she hasn't even begun to start teething. She shows no signs at all. My question to all of you is, "when did your yorkie start to lose teeth??" Also, my vet would like to spay Paisley around 7 months from the way things look right now. She wants to give her more time to grow but doesn't want to wait too long because the chance of going into heat. I know no'one can say for sure when this will happen, but on average could some of you tell me when you got your baby girl spayed? Thanks so much for the help!!! :) |
I just had lulu spayed in June. She had just turned 8 months. Being as she was small the vet wanted to wait until she was at least 7 months. She had her surgery at the 8 month mark and weighed in at 2 1/2 lbs. She also had about two teeth removed. It has been my experience that up until a bit after a year they can loose baby teeth. |
Kamari just turned 8 months old and I am about to get her spayed and she has not lost her baby teeth yet. It's driving me nuts because I don't want to pay to have them pulled. I just don't have the extra cash right now.:( |

Zoey turned 5 months old on 8-6. She has been chewing a lot for the last month. She is really starting to lose teeth now. I noticed 3 missing on the bottom last week. Now the new ones are breaking through. |
I got Jewels retained teeth removed at her spay and the vet didnt charge me either |
mocha started losing teeth when she was 9 months. she still has some baby teeth (which is the cause of her horrible horrible breath. ). she's almost a year old, hasn't gone into heat yet, but she has an doctor's appt next week to see when she should get spayed. mommy wants it to be soooon. |

I would wait until after teething to get her spayed. Misha went under at 4 months to get spayed. My vet it early. Later we had to take her back to get her canines out. After reading a lot on here, there was no reason for her to have 2 surgeries. I should have waited. I no longer go to that Vet. Piper had her's done at 9 months. All her baby teeth were gone except her canines. The Vet did both spayed & removal at the same time. Max is almost 10 months. He has finally lost all baby teeth except canines. I think it took him longer since he is so small. So now in the next month or so, we'll have him neutered & his canines out. Our new vet wanted to wait until he was done teething. He also only has 1 testicle, his other one never came down, & we were waiting on that also. Well, good luck on what ever you decide to do. |
Thanks everyone for all the help here. :D I just wish she would start losing them. My vet charges and its not cheap. :( |

Marcel is 9 mths old (next Monday) and hasn't lost ANY teeth yet - but he's teething like mad - double rows all over the place. He is sched. for neutering in September. I've been noticing that the "tinies" seem to teethe much later. Marcel is 2.10 pounds and he develops much later than others. His hormones didn't even start to kick in until about 6-7 mths. |
