How to teach her to use the stairs? Hi my fellow YT lovers!! I just bought a pet stairs for Chloe to use in out bedroom. How do I teach her to use it instead of jumping on and off the bed?? Any advises and suggestions are weclome and greatly appreciated!!:D Thanks! |
My Maltese will still not use the stairs to get up and down off our bed but she is very good about not jumping off the bed and waits for assistance. Now the Yorkie is a whole different story. He took to them right away and flies up and down the stairs. My suggestions is to put them near the bed and lay on the bed near the stairs and call her and reward her with a treat when she comes up and BIG TIME LOVINGS. Then if that doesn't work, try taking a treat and leading her with it up the stairs. Hope one of the suggestions works for you. |
i want pet stairs !! where do i get them? |
I would just pick them up and walk them your self up and down the stairs, see how that works, maybe follow it with a treat?? |
I put a crumb of a treat on each step for Cody and a bigger piece at the top, and did the same going down them too |

i did the same when training her to use the steps (in my parent's two story house) up and down. |

I trained both of mine as soon as I got them to not jump of the bed and to use the stairs. I just kept having them go up and down and they got a little treat and lots of praise. We switched to a ramp by the side of my bed and they zip up that like there on a racecourse. |
I got my steps at walmart for $20. |
WALGREENS had some really nice pet steps for 10 BUCKS ! We got some and Chanel loves them - Cheri just flies over them Try the treat thing on each step - What I did with Chanel is 'help' her up and down and now she does it herself - I can't get Cheri to use them at all - lucky it's only the couch and not a far jump but she'd fly like superman even if it was 4 feet tall |
