Is my baby crazy? Right now Gypsy is playing with her food. She tore up a piece of shiny newspaper I left in the floor and is trying to hide her food with it. She is actually laying it on her food bowl. She often does this. The page she has is too big so she tore it to fit. If she sees me looking she will look at me as if to say she wasn't doing anything. My dtr calls her crazy cause she will often act like she is taking a piece of food out of her bowl and lay it beside the bowl. She will go around the dish doing this but does not actually take a piece out except occasionally. Is she crazy or nuerotic? |
Sounds like a normal yorkie to me! |
Yep sounds normal to me too. They love to "hide" their food. The other day, I gave Coby a little biscuit. He was having trouble deciding where he wanted to bury it in the house. He finally chose a place on the carpet under the footstool. He carefully dug a little pretend "hole", carefully and secretly placed the biscuit in the "hole" and nosed the "carpet" back over the "hole" so no one could steal his treasure. Since this was on the carpet and was all pretend except in Coby's mind, Reggie came along and snatched the biscuit, leaving Coby looking like "Now how did he see that when I buried it so well????" |
No Penny does that, but it's starting to make me nervous, because I don't know that she's eating enough. I'm going to start giving her yogurt and cottage cheese. |
LOL so normal, all 4 of mine hide there treats, so funny cause there not even hid, but they think they are, I love to watch when they dig to hide it:D |
Thanks for the replies. I was starting to think she was crazy. |
Lol sounds like typical yorkie behaivour to me :D |

normal yorkie behavior. it is funny to watch. |
Is my baby crazy No but Tricksie might be. She is such a picky eater that I have to mix different foods and she will pick out something that she does not like and throw it around the house, roll on it, bark at it. She is really smart about hiding her treats, hardly ever in the same place, buries them under pillows or cushions on the sofa, the headboard of my bed, behind doors, under furniture, in the bed under the sheets. When she is ready for me to come find them she just stares at me and will lead me to the room, if I can't find it soon, she will get close to the spot and look in the direction of it. They are the most wonderful dogs in the world. |
When Chelsea is placed in her crate, she gets a dog treat. She will try to dig in the corner, then "BURY" it with her nose. TOO FUNNY to watch, eventually she just eats it, so much for hoarding treats! Yesterday, she did an "OH OH!" in the house, by her crate, a big puddle too. When I showed it to her, she put her tail down, ears back, and ran to her other crate in our bedroom. I had closed the door, but had not locked it, she pawed the door open quickly, and ran in, with such force that the door shut behind her, as if she had shut it herself. Never a dull moment with a Yorkie :D |
