gross I know Okay tell me...should stool be hard or just solid? I'm starting to think Boston just doesn't poop hard poop. It's solid, it's not liquid, but it's smooshy...every time I clean up his poop it just smooshes in the napkin when I pick it up. Sorry I know that's gross but I'm confused. I don't want to run back to the vet and do another stool sample if it's nothing but if it's NOT normal then maybe I should. Zoey's is soft too when she first goes but it's more formed and more solid looking..... AGHRRRRRRRRRRRRRR BOSTON!!!!! |
I don't think it should be Hard...It should just be solid. |
My vet once told me that it shouldn't fall apart when you pick it up-it can break in pieces, but not smush. Does that help? |

It might be the food or treats. Does he eat dry food or wet? |
I'm LMAO! Between all the poop threads, and my new thread about humping, I think we need a section called "embarassing/gross/bodily functions" ! |

Mine have soft mushy poop on both Chicken Soup and Canidae which is why I decided to switch to homecooking. It's definitely more work but I guess my two just have sensitive tummies - sigh. |
The poop should be solid and relatively hard, you should be able to break it into pieces but it shoulden't squish. Gross lol. |
I'm not even gonna comment... It has been said by you all. |
It shouldn't be hard as a rock, but it shouldn't be soupy either. Somewhere in between. |
poop I just spoke with my vet because Boston had runny stool AGAIN today..He is clear of bacteria and parasites so she believes it's caused from and upset stomach from the dog food. So I guess we're switching..but yeah health puppy:) |
Chircken Soup I had Toby on Chicken Soup for the Puppy Lovers Soul but it made him constipated....he is now on Science Diet and he does a lot better.....I wish I had time to cook for him...but I have four other animals plus one sick husband.....when he doesnt eat good, I give him I/D...he loves that. |
Changed dog foods When you change dog foods, are you mixing the old food with the new food and changing gradually? Puppies need a gradual change of food...just FYI |
Same here Poor Maxie wasn't doing well the first few weeks we got her. She is now 8 months and doing better. The poop is a daily log with me and my husband "Did she poop? How much? Soft or hard?" It definitely depends on the food/treats. The pupperoni does a job. She likes chicken jerky, and rice and is beginning to turn her nose to biscuits (what a princess). I too brought my poor girl to the vet. Initially there was a problem, but twice afterwards, she was fine. I just monitor for a change in bowel movements and call the vet if I notice a turn for the worse. |
Hmm... Jack's poop has always been relatively "soft"... a little bit squishy... but not SUPER squishy. But, definitely squishier than Rosie's! I hope he's okay. :( |
