Bad breath Is there anything you can do about bad breath? Teddy is very small and sensitive, (4pounds) he had his teeth cleaned a few months ago, but thats not something I want to do too often. And he does not let me brush his teeth. |
I use petzlife, it comes in gel and in spray form. You don't even have to really brush their teeth with it, just get it on their teeth. It made a big differfence in Ollie's breath and all of the brown is gone off of her teeth. |
Which works better the spray or the gel. I want to get some for Fritzel's teeth. I was going to take him to the vet and have them clean them but I don't like putting him under just to clean his teeth. The risk isn't worth it at this point. |
I got the Petzlife spray and my Tiffy is terrified! When she sees the bottle she runs and hides.. |
hahahahaha, they should make something that taste good. |
I think Fritzel would be scared of the spray too. I think I am going with the gel. Where is the best place to buy it? Petsmart and Petco don't sell it. |
I ordered mine off the internet. Not sure where, I just did a search for it and looked for the best price. you use very little so it lasts a long time. I only brush their teeth once a week, and it does the trick. Quote:

I would stick to the gel also since the shhhh spray sound can be scary for these little babies ;) |
Maybe you can start by putting a little on your finger then slip some in on his teeth until he gets use to it. Then you can start brushing them. |
Thanks, I just ordered the gel from Sassypup. I hope it helps. His breath is so bad. I do brush them sometimes but the toothpaste I have doesn't do much. I love this website. It has helped me so much. |
i use the peztlife gej not the spray. my Ryo's breath smells good already after 2 weeks |
I've also had better success with the gel. The spray really freaks them out. But I put a little gel on my finger, and rub it around their teeth and it works wonders. |
Yes, petzlife will help ALOT with potty breath. I don't think it's the flavor of the spray dogs hate, perhaps the sound?? Who knows.....if yours can tolerate brushing, go for the gel since it's more effective for plaque/tarter removal. I simply use a child's toothbrush, nothing fancy...find the smallest head you can find with the softest bristles. We have a Dora one for Zoe :p |
Just a note on a different source of the bad breath. When Reggie was little, he had horrible breath. I told the vet about it when I took him in to get neutered so he could clean and check his teeth. He found a bit of carpet or plush toy that had wound around a very back tooth and wasn't visable when looking in his mouth. Needless to say, it had gotten pretty rotten and was where the horrible "odor" was coming from. The vet said that puppies chew so much that sometimes that happens. He'd never seen such a nasty one tho. :( So sometimes bad breath has a real source too. |
