We were lucky. Wes started sleeping through the night 2 days after we brought him home. Maddie also started sleeping through the night soon after we got her. Now, they go to bed any time from 10pm and later. They are always ready to go to bed by 10pm. If we stay up much later, if we even walk into our bedroom, they will hop right into bed. But, of course, they won't stay there if we aren't staying there. They will sleep in till 9am. |
I can understand your wanting to sleep until 10. But puppies and babies change the "rules". No longer will you always get what you want. :( I do the cover thing. If he won't just play on his own in the kitchen, that seems to keep Coby quieter when I have to get things done. If you're sleeping near the pen anyway, can you get him up to potty, etc. and then just lay near the pen and doze a bit more? Or does he freak out? Hang in there. He won't be a puppy forever, promise. Puppies are like kids, and they will be only as good as you help them be. If you put in the work now, you will be rewarded for years and years to come. I know it's hard and it's frustrating. But you can do it. And you will be rewarded for your hard work. You've got tons of advice and moral support here when you get frustrated. That's what forums like this are for - to support each other through the tough spots. |
From the day I brought my boys home at 9 weeks old they have slept through the night. Whether in the crate or on my bed. They are ready for bed at around 9pm (sleepin on couch until i go to bed b/t 10 - 11pm) and we get up at around 6am. I never gave them food or water past 8pm and took them out to pee before I went to bed. They did really good with that! |

now my boys are up and down the bed on their own so I get up at like 7am and let them out, then I go back to bed and leave my bedroom door open. They can come & go as they please. Most of the time they come back to bed and go to sleep while I am! |
I go to bed around 10, and let mine go out for their last potty. They wake me up around 6 to go potty. I guess I'm really lucky. |
Jack slept through the night from day one. Rosie... still gets up in the middle of the night to pee on her peepad. She just jumps out of bed and uses it. When she was little, I had a ramp for her to get down off of my bed. Bedtime for both is 10pm and wake up... about 7am. But, they will let me sleep till 10am if I want to! |
Bella is whenever I go to bed, and whenever I get up. Diggy never goes to bed, therefore we dont have to worry about getting up.. |
I was so lucky with Jake because he has always slept through the night. But, that's because he sleeps with me and hubby.:D |
