questions to ask the new owner We sold a Yorkie to a couple and their daughter a couple weeks ago. We are going to send them an e-mail, kind of like a check-up e-mail. To kind of ask how he has been and if he is adjusting well. Is that ok to do or does it seem intrusive? Or what kind of questions could I ask to not seem so intrusive? Thanks. |
Honestly, I would think that is so thoughtful of you to e-mail/call and ask that....I would be flattered and it would assure me (as the buyer) that you really do care about your animals....even after the sale. |
I'm not a breeder, I'm a buyer. My breeder has asked me about my little ones, Like hows he eating, has he gained weight, have you taken him in for shots yet? Is he ok with the family, other pets, etc. Everything you'd ask the babysitter after going out for the first time and leaving your new born baby. Good luck. I'm sure they'll be happy that you care so much. I know I was. Made me glad to know he came from a good home...vs..mill |
I have two yorkies, bought from different breeders in different towns and both emailed me about how the puppy was doing and both encouraged me to email them if I needed any help, which I did for Chloe, my first, when her ears popped back down. So, no you are caring, not anything more. I was glad they were concerned. In fact, I practically had to give blood to "qualify" for being able to purchase my two and I was glad to provide all that info. Yorkies are the best. |

I loved it when my breeder e-mailed me just the other day and asked about his eating habits, etc, and she even said "Make sure you tell him I love him very much and that he better be a good boy!!!" I thought that was cute. |
I wouldn't feel you were intruding upon me. I'd feel like you were a good breeder that's concerned about their pup, and wants to answer any questions I might have. |
I kept track of my pups' new homes for the first couple of months and no-one seemed to mind. I did email, however, so they were able to answer at their own discretion. My sister took the two boys, so I get to see and hear about them all the time which is great! |
Not intrusive at all I guess if they feel you are intruding, then they just won't reply. |
i think it is great that you would follow up on a puppy! I was really intrusive on my breeders lol i called and emailed them all the time and sometimes i got a little mad if i didn't hear back from them so i think they would be happy to hear from you! The breeder i got Peeka from was really nice but the only thing i don't like is after a year she stops by my house unannounced it really bothers me i mean i know she is nice and wants to see Peeka but it really drives me nuts she just shows up when ever and acts like she still owns him she just grabs him out of my arms and does what she wants with him it is really annoying. But i see no harm in an email or phone call. |
I contact my buyers 24 hours after the puppy goes home. A week later maybe. And then once a month to get their weights and new pictures if they have any. I hope they don't think I am being intrusive. |
