Changing her name?
 
I just got Riley the sister he's always wanted. She is 8 months old and only 3 lbs. She is adorable and it couldn't of worked out any better. I got her from someone who couldn't keep her anymore. Her name is Chanel and I'd like to change it. People have told me that as long as I change it soon, she'll get use to a new name. Is this wrong of me? These are the names I like: Lilly,
layla, Haley, lucy, holly, heidi, ava, emma, and daisy. I need a girly name because she is such a little princess. Any suggestions?

When Maggie (She's my avitar) came to us her name was Baby. We had Bailey & she didn't look like a "Baby". The first week she stuck to me like a magnet and out of that came Maggie. It took about 2 days for her to learn her new name. Whenever she goes back to her old owners for a visit she's back to Baby for them.
I love your list of names....It's hard to pick one.

I couldn't do it when Casper came to me at 19 months, and Tammy who came to me at 3 years, but at 8 months I think you could get off with it.
I was afraid to upset them more....I wanted to call Casper - Bobby, but I liked Tammy as it was a "T" ! All our dogs have been a "T" except for Casper and he is unique anyway ! I like his name now, but it took a bit of getting used to, and we often call him "Mannie"

I like Haley since it sort of goes with Riley! I think you can get away with changing her name now since she is so young. Congrats!

I think she will be fine with a new name since she's so young. I wanted to change Hallie's name to Sadie but she was 2 1/2yrs when I got her and I thought she had been through enough.

Of course I'm partial to Hallie as a name but I Love Emma too :)

I got Pixie at 13 months and I kept her name as she just looked like a Pixie. But I think you can change it pretty easily.

Do not worry she will get use to her new name. I adopted a 4 yr 3 months ago. Her name was Marshmallow and I changed it to Maggie Mae
Just put her old name in front of her new name and slowly take away her old name. I like LILLY..

if the names sounds like the other you can def get away.
when i call mickey or johhny they both come.....i think cause they both end in Y

Thanks for all the suggestions! I still don't have a name for her. But I need one asap so I can get her insurance. She needs to get lots done at the vet (spayed, teeth pulled, and microchipped). It's between Layla and Lilly now...but it seems everyone likes Emma. Oh, what to do???

Sassypup, that's fun you're in the meetup group. I'm gonna try to make it on Saturday (miss no name has her first grooming appointment). I'll have to check out your Web site for some new girly stuff. I already got her lots of goodies but she needs more. I'm definitely going to the shop and swap. I have tons of stuff and need to make room for more!:)

When we rescued Jack at age 10, his name was Cuddles. While I'm secure enough in my manhood to own Yorkies, that was going too far. He never had any problem learning his new name.

When Frimousse arrived to my home , the only names she knew were " the bitch" and " the bastard ". I couldn't believe she answered to those names . I began to name her Frimousse as soon as she arrived home . She was looking at me with a very weird look when I said her name . A month later , she understood for good that her name was Frimousse . She is 2 years old . I know she is better now than before .

Is Pixel the masculine version of Pixie?

Thanks for changing "Cuddles".....Jack just does not look like a "Cuddles" He is a definite "Jack".

That's why no one likes my suggestion. No one knows what it is! Maybe it is a dumb suggestion.

A pixel is one of the tiny, tiny squares that make up a graphic image on a computer. Most standard pictures have 72 pixels per inch.

Yeah, small world huh? We've been a member in like FOREVER and only go to the Rancho Bernardo meetups since everything else is too far for us since we live in N. San Diego. Do you use that lady on Clairmont for grooming? She is the BEST. I'm so particular with haircuts and we drop her off to do her thing and she comes back as cute as a bug each time. I wanna meet your lil girl, she seems adorable, her face reminds me of Zoe's face. Was it a local person you found her from? Her loss is your gain!!! Hope your lil' Riley is taking to her well.

I really like the name Pixie & never thought there would be a male version of that until you said "Pixel"....just for you being so smart, my next male :aimeeyork will be Pixel. Just 4 U.

I love the name Lacey and Kallie of course!!!!:rolleyes:

We adopted Kallie when she was 2 1/2 years old and her name was Rosey and hubby just did not think the name fit her so we changed it to Kallie. What we did to help her recognize she was now Kallie is we would get a good 30 feet apart and each of us had treats in our hands. We would take turns saying: "Kallie, come!"............she would come a running and then we rewarded her with a small treat. Then the hubby would call her and give her a treat. We did this for about a week, every day and she accepted the name from then on (maybe she didn't like the name Rosey either). We bought Toby at 6 months and also changed his name...........using the same method it took under a week for him to accept his new name. Dogs are so smart!!!:thumbup: :thumbup:

I love Emma, thats my daughters confirmation name and my great grandmothers name.

I also like Ava my daughters name is Avery! She gets called Ava and Ave

I adopted a poodle a long time ago. She was almost 2 when I got her. Her name was Monet when she came to me and I changed her name to Chloe. She was fine with it. congratulations!

I think it's fine to change names...when people adopt adult dogs from the pound, they rename them all the time since many times their names are unknown. They all adjust and do fine with it!

I am obviously partial to Emma, since I have an Emma, but I also really like Lilly or Lily. I wanted to name Emma that actually, but my husband didn't like it. Lily of the Valley is my "birth flower" (May). Daisies are my favorite flower, and I also thought of that for a yorkie name, but again, DH vetoed, because it was too frilly for him :)

I love the name Zandy.. I had little phillipino nurse and her name was Zandy.. I loved the name. If I ever get another little girl I want to name her XZanidu Magic .. Zandy for short!
