Grooming? When did you usually begin grooming? At what age? Bella is almost 4 mos and never looks brushed I was thinkin it's time for a trim. |
I think it depend on you. If you think she is ready, she is ready. |
I started Coco at 10 weeks. I started slow though, I would put the grooming materials on the floor for a couple of hours a day. She would go sniff them, play with them and just not be afraid of them. I even turned the trimmer on a couple of times while holding her, so the sound wouldn't scare her. Now she is a doll, when it comes to trimming. She just sticks her head between my legs and lets me groom her. :p |
Maggie is 4 months old now too. She is finished with her shots and first dose of bordetella. She too gets brushed everyday, bathed every week, but still she looks like she hasn't been brushed at all. You might say she has the "Sprigglies". Very soon, I will be making her a beauty shop appointment, if for nothing else---just to get use to a groomer. |
Sydney started getting brushed the day she came home with me. But waited to give her the first haircut at about 4 months. It is going to be scary for them the first couple of times regardless of their age. I do my own haircuts though. I don't know if you might want to wait if you are taking them to a professional groomer. |
Buddy's 4 months and ive been brushing him since we got him at 7 weeks, obviously very gently at first. I probably only take about 15 minutes a day, and thats brushing and cleaning his teeth and wiping ears and eyes! Within an hour he looks like a scruffy pup again but at least he's not got any knots. He's quite good at being brushed as long as you let him chew something while you do it (saves my fingers!) I found giving him bits of a pet tab while I brush him keeps him happy. :) |
I think both mine went to a groomer at 5 months....but I did the ears myself ....it's good to get them used to it young and your baby is just about at that age.... |
