When does Puppy Coat stop shedding? What age? 1 Attachment(s) I am new so this might not work! I have a beautiful little girl named Rosie. She is 17 weeks. When will she stop shedding? Rosie's mommy |
lol..I saw your other post - Congratulations on your new baby !!! Is your baby losing hair ? As far as shedding - yorkies really don't shed like other breeds though your baby WILL get a coat change....the adult coat just grows but you shouldn't be seeing hair all over the place - at least I didn't with mine - it's a gradual thing and can last well over a year...possibly 2....my oldest Chanel had a full yorkie coat at 1-1/2 years old....You could try some food supplements or Liperderm - a vitamin for skin and coat - |
It took till Duncan was 2 to get his full coat but none of it fell out - well actually it would be hard to tell with a retriever shedding all the time in the same house :D |
Congratulations on your new little girl! Like Villette said they really don't shed, except when you brush them you will get some excess hair out on the brush or comb. If she is really "shedding" on your furniture etc. you need to get her to see a vet and make sure that nothing is wrong. The puppy hair will take al least a full year to totally change to their adult coat... |
Thanks for the quick respinds! She doesn't leave any hair around the house but I hold her against my chest or on my lap all the time and I have hair on my cloths. I use a tape roller all the time. I was just surprized that this is happening . Had her to the vets and every one just she's she will loose her puppy coat?? |
She for sure has a lot of hair for 17 weeks old. Maggie is 16 weeks. Maggie's hair is changing colors. On top of her head it's silver with black tips. Looks strange. Good thing she doesn't shed. Maggie's hair seems thin to me. I hope it does thicken up with age. |
After I give Zack a bath, I notice many of his hairs in the bottom of the tub. That's the only time I see that he has shed some hair. I figured it was due to being anxious about bathtime. My beagle sheds like crazy when I take him to the vet. |

I am glad to hear you say that Maggie's hair seems thin to you. Copper's does, too! I can see his skin through the hair on his back...looks like little parts in his hair. I wonder if it will thicken up as he grows. Being a chocolate, I am not sure what to expect from him. His hair does seem lighter at the roots. Especially on his head and behind his ears??? |

Does the Liperderm make the coat thicken up? Copper's looks very thin on his head and back, but I am seeing lighter hair underneath, like Brenda was talking about with Maggie. I don't know what to expect with a Chocolate. I saw that one on a post who was totally blonde. Maybe that is what is happening to him??? |

Ann, rarely are the coats on the off-colors as luxurious and silky as the standard colors. One of my boys has only a slightly different texture. Snickers has a sparse puppy coat but they both seem to be growing.. |

I just looked at your babies! They are adorable! The biewers are very nice...reminds me of my past Maltese dogs. I wonder how they were developed? Did you purchase them overseas? I haven't read much about them, but I think they are very pretty dogs! Snickers' back looks just like Copper's with the little parts...Only Copper's hair is just a little longer... OOPS! No...that is the other chocolate male. Copper's back looks like that but longer like Snickers'. They must be closer to the same age. |
