Hello everyone. Newbie with a couple questions. Hello YorkieTalk, my name is james and my yorkies name is dollar. he's 3 months old and i cant get him out of my head. I've had one other dog before but she was given to me fully grown and trained so I do not have much knowledge in that area. Any advice that you guys can give me on training, diet, ANYTHING that you think would be helpful in raising a healthy and obedient dog, i would be much appreciative. Thank you and God bless.:animal-pa |

The one thing I can tell right away is that your little one is getting lots of TLC and that is the important number one in my way of thinking. Patience is very important in starting out with a puppy be sure Dollar knows that you have lots of patience, and be consistent in training him. Lots of praise when he does things that you ask of him. Praise praise goes a long way with a new puppy. If you want any help with posting pictures and in the avator please just ask someone will be happy to help you. Welcome to yorkie talk family. Have a nice day. Patti and Jack Baby Blessing and DollieDae |
Welcome James and Dollar. You have come to the right site to raise you new little one. o start, I hope you are crate training him. Does he have his own little bed where is can go to feel safe? I have 3 adults and they each have their own crate that they sleep in on their own now. It is never used as punishment, but a place to rest when they need it. I "free feed" which means I always have dry food and water down for my babies. None of mine are overweight, but I think this wold just be a personal choice. Water should always be available. Confine your puppy right now so you know where he is at all times (safty) and for potty training. Our male is 3 and I still need to watch him when he is in the house. Hope you have had him vet checked! Give him a hug from all of us. |
Start by teaching him tricks and small commands. He will learn by that to obey you |
Welcome James and Dollar. I think patience and praise are two key elements. Crate training is great, and it does help them, and you our a lot. You have to remember they are little and so have to go to the bathroom quite often. I recommend training them to go outside instead of the wee wee pads, but that's my personal preference. Best of luck, and ask lots of questions. |
