Ears were up & now back down.. My sister's has a 4 month old yorkie & his ears were completely up but all of a sudden they've gone back down. Should she be worried or is everything okay? |
Is the pup teething? I've heard the ears can go up and down during teething. |
I think he's teething so that might be it.. Thanks :) Any & all suggestions welcome! |
Teething or not, dietary intake can play a small roll here. Further, I'd go ahead and keep the hair on the ears trimmed and shaved (in the appropriate places) just to give every little bit of assistance to them just in case. |
My Eury is almost 5 months old and her ears still go up an down, and they are shaved. I'm not one to tape her ears, just something I don't want to do, but the ear muscles are still developing strength so I was reading that the going up and down are very normal. |
Coby's were both up when we got him. After a couple of weeks, one went down for a week. When it went up, the other went down. After another week, both were up. I'm told that as they are teething, they lose the calcium that makes the cartilage in their ears strong. (The ears suddenly feel very "limp".) So it's perfectly normal for the them to go up and down. If they stay down for an extended period, you can think about taping them to support them until past the teething stage. But you probably won't have to worry about it. It's normal!! |
Diggy's ears go up and down all the time and usually one at a time I think it just adds character! Id defiately say your sisters baby is teething! |
