At what age do you pick out your puppy? The breeder told me we could pick out our puppy when he is three weeks old because by that time the puppies will be showing their personalities and they will have enough hair to give us an idea of how they are going to look. Of course, we would not take home the puppy that young, but we could pick him out and watch him grow until he's ready to come home with us. What age do you recommend? Does three weeks sound too soon to tell what kind of personality the puppies will have? |
puppy I don't think I picked out Zoey until she was like 8 weeks. Our breeder says they change so much. |
Ours wouldn't let us take her home til she was 12 weeks...I'm sure for health and mental reasons |
She's not taking the pup home yet ... just getting dibs! I think 6-8 weeks is probably prime. (That's when we brought our first one home. We had picked him out when he was 2 days old. Clearly, we had no idea what we were doing. But it worked out.) We went to see Ozzie's litter at 11 weeks -- and came home with him. He is as much a lover now (at age 10) as he was that first day.:) |
