Hiding Food? Yesterday, when Kingston was laying on his bed, I noticed he was crunching on something. I got worried and opened his mouth. It was kibble! I was so relieved. I thought he picked something off the floor. Then he started digging in his bed and again, I heard the distinctive crunch. I took the cushion out of the bed, and discovered a dozen pieces of kibble! So today I watched him eat breakfast and every once in awhile, he would go hide a piece inside his bed. He is such a character! Any yorkies here do this? |
Saving up for a rainy day! :D I think they usually outgrow this. Muffin used to hide her treats. But she outgrew that, too. |
That's so cute. Buddy would walk around with a treat in his mouth looking for a place to hide it when he was a puppy but I guess the treat got the better of him and he always ate it before he got a chance to hide it. |
Lol molly the monster does it every day:rolleyes: we call her the kibble keeper, he will out grow it, my others did, i think its funny:D |

wow thats so funny Tede did not do this but it is sooo funny. It must be fun to watch jg:p |
Chewy leaves treats in every corner of every room. If I give her a cookie...sometimes i break it up into 3 or 4 pieces cuz she usually wont eat it for days if its whole. She walks around with them and makes sure no one is watching her (we look away), when she feels its safe she digs them (on hardwood) then walks away. 10 minutes later shell come back and eat it or sometimes throw it around with her mouth and jump on it as if its getting away. Its the funniest thing to watch!! |
Jake hides his flossies and bully sticks in all different places of the house. I'm always finding them when I'm cleaning. He actually acts like he's burying it, it's funny. |
Funny, funny...both Emmy and Oscar do it! Treats--they gobble down like theres no tomorrow, but kibble...they store it all over the house. Someone mentioned about the pups acting like they are digging and covering it up--both of mine do that too! It is so funny to watch...they are just going through the motions. BTW...when little Oscar tinkles on the potty pad he always uses his back legs and "covers" up the pee! He is just scratching at air! |

I remember the very first time I gave him a chew toy (the edible kind), he was crying. I thought he got hurt or it got stuck in his throat. No, he was just crying coz he didnt know where to bury it. He cracked me up! His favorite hiding place for treats is our bed coz of the blankets and pillows. He hides the treat in between the pillows and he scratches on the blanket for that pretend hole and drops it in there then buries it with his nose. It is the cutest thing ever! |
my cody doesnt hide his food but he has been getting where he will get a piece and run to the living room and eat then go back get a piece and so on and so on. its cute! |
Izzy is like Cody - she will take a piece of kibble and run like heck and then eat and then she repeats about 10 times. I haven't seen her "hide" anything yet.. |
mocha does it. she does with treats too. she's been staying with my bf for the past month because i went on vacation and he has a 98 lb golden lab. everytime she goes and hides her kibble and treats (digging and covering!), he waits until she leaves, goes and finds it and eats it. she comes back a couple of minutes later to find her hidden kibble and treats and finds that it's gone. she then..gets mad and starts barking at mickey (his golden lab), who just stares at her, not guilty at all. this happens multiple times throughout the day. it's hilarious to watch. :) |
Miles never eats his milkbone when I give it to him. He walks around looking for a place to hide it. Then I hear him eating something much later, or the next day and find the milkbone or milkbones. My husband had a yorkie when he was a kid that hid all her treats and they would find piles of them in her "secret" hiding places. |
