when should you spayed your female? Hi when should u have your female dog spayed? I heard you have to do it before her first loop. is that true? mine is 2 yrs old, is it too 'late'? I also heard if you dont spayed your female, you better breed her, she must give birth at least once inher lifetime or she'll prone to cancer... IS THIS TRUE??? |
spaying I just heard the opposite. That spaying helps prevent your yorkie from getting cancer:eek: Then the vet told me I should get my baby spaded about 7 mos....Right now she is 5 mos old, 16 days old....but check with a professional.... |
They should be spayed at 6 months, but no age is to old. You're baby can get cancer if you don't spay, not if you do. |
I had my Sophie spayed at 2 1/2 years old, after one litter, and I had Isis her puppy spayed at 1 year. Both did great. I'm glad I waited, I was so worried the pups wouldn't be strong enough to be put under..... it was also a good time to get their baby teeth taken out.... |
I spayed Chloe when she was 10 months old. She is doing great! |
I am going to have the girls spayed in the next couple of months. Sadie is 3 1/2 yrs old and Lillie is 14 months. Sadie just went out of her 4th heat and Lillie out of her first. I wish I had Sadie done after her first heat. And Lillie before her first. I am so nervous about having them done that I just keep putting it off. I know it's better for them to have it done..I am not going to worry about them getting cancer because I've waited. They are very healthy little girls. I feel the longer you wait the better the chance of cancer but, I don't think 3 1/2ys and 14 months is to old. |
I spayed Isis around 7-9 months old (canīt remember exactly), about a month after her first "heat" (like the vet reccomended) and everything went great. I did spay my Miniature Poodle at 4 years old and that was a bit late I wished I had done it sooner. I think that you should spay dogs before they are 2 or 3 years old, preferiply 1 year old. Then they will not change, no accidental litters, less likely to have cancer, the bitch doesnīt have to have any mood changes (that can come with "the heat") and much less trouble for the owner. I love to have spayed girls, no trouble, no moodswings, they get left alone by other males and I they have much less trouble (My little Mandla did stay "in heat" for over 2 months  and had to get hormones to stop but still many weeks after her "heat" has stopped still some males can smell something and never let her alone  my poor little girl, but at least Chico and Leon are not that inthusiastic as some dogs :p ) So I would say that it is not too late to spay your girl ;) |
sorry, forgot to answer this, too late to edit Quote:
It is usially better for the female NOT to have puppies, too many risks that comes with breeding her, might even end up with no dog, no female and no puppies if something goes wrong. I would only breed a female if I think that she could contribute alot to the Yorkshire Terrier breeding and then I would be aware of the risks and prepare to deal with them if that should happen. It is easier to just spay the female that is not intended to breed because then you are not tempted to breed her, because you canīt, its not an option :D |
There is no need for a female to have puppies . All excuses are good for peoples to have their bitches bred . |
