spay surgery tomorrow My yorkie has surgery tomorrow. I am sooooo nervous. She's getting spayed and also getting teeth pulled. I am to drop her off at 9 am and the vet plans to keep her overnight until wednesday. |
why so long???? |
I don't know- that's what the vet said he usually does. he keeps all dogs overnight after surgery. |
hmmm we check them in in the am then they go home that afternoon. I sure hope someone is there to monitor 24 hours. poor baby would be much more comfortable recovering at home, and for momma to im sure. |
It's always nerve-racking when they have to have surgery. Just remember you're doing the right thing in spaying them if you're not going to breed them, and remember that it's over quickly. They should get good pain meds, and she'll be back to running and jumping around WAY before she's supposed to be. That's the hardest part of the spay-compared to the day of surgery, the next 10 days of keeping them low-key is the hardest part! Request the the vet techs call you periodically-when she goes under anesthesia, when the surgery's over, when she's waking up, etc. That helped me get through the day. I didn't leave either of my furgirls overnight when they were spayed. It is the vet's policy, but I refused, and brought both of them home on their spay days. I wouldn't allow them to stay overnight when there wasn't someone right by their sides all night, when I could bring them home and watch them all night. I did have to bring them back in the morning for a recheck, which worked well. We'll be thinking of you and your furgirl tomorrow. Keep us updated on how she's doing. |
thanks, I'm definitely going to double check about her staying overnight. I'll post back tomorrow. hopefully she can come home right after. |
Sending Prayers that everything goes well tomorrow and a quick recovery. |
Sharon, Me too. Holly goes in tomorrow at 8:30. Also getting two baby canines pulled too. I too am nervous. I wish you good luck and hope for a speedy recovery for your little girl. |
good luck and prayers to you also for a speedy recovery. |
Sharon, stay calm, everything will turn out all right. I agree with others commenting on the need to let her stay overnight at the vet. My 14 yr old Jennie got spayed when she was ten years old. She had developed pyometra and she had also some breast tumors so she had double surgery, she got spayed and had three teats removed. She also got some teeth pulled out, not because she had a extra ones but because they were in a very poor condition, too loose when they were cleaned. In short, she did not stay overnight. She was scheduled for the morning 10.OO or 10.30 and I got her back around 19.00. So, I would also make sure it's absolutely necessary to leave her at the clinic. I don't think nobody is going to do a better monitoring of her than you. I wish you and her the best.:animal37 Rubi and:dogsm6: Jennie |
Yeah. I'm picking Holly up at 4. Same surgery I don't see why there would be a different recovery time. |
sending prayers to you & your baby. |
Sending my prayer as well. My Momiji had her spay surgery 2 weeks ago and she still has scab on her belly but she is back to her normal self by 3rd day!!!! I think she was more in pain with her teeth pulled than spay itself.... Good luck and keep us update!!! Kana & Momiji |
As I type this I have my little Lola on my lap...recovering after her spay surgery. I dropped her off at 8:30 am and they called me by 11:30 to let me know all went well and that she was awake and would be monitered all day. It was stressful, but with the Dr. calling me it made it that much easier. After I picked her up at 5:00 that same day she was sleepy for the night...but soon after she wanted to run and play and jump around as usual. She had pain meds and an antibiotic, which we are in the last days of. She gets her stitches out on Friday and then it's back to "full yorkie mischief" as usual! She also had teeth pulled and we had to wait until she was over a year because she is only 2.5 pounds. She is really good about not bothering with her stitches...unlike her brother who had to be monitered 24/7 after his surgery! I am wishing your baby a speedy recovery !! |
Any news? Emma and Milli send puppy kisses, and we hope your furbaby feels better soon! |
