Yorkie Toys Help! Does any one have any problems with their yorkie plucking all the fur from their toys? Martini's plucks the fur from EVERY toy I buy her. If I buy her a toy made out of rubber she destroy that too! I am living with a Peronna! Any advise? |
My mother said we should invest in Goodyear tires!:D Seriously, I don't know of many that aren't destructive. With that in mind, I would recommend that you: *Don't buy toys that she can ingest *Don't spend a lot, except on occasion, on any one toy. It's slated for destruction after all.:) *Try Booda toys. Ozzie has only managed to rip apart one of those! *Don't leave toys she can "pick clean" laying around without supervision. Hope this helps. Good luck! |
Coby is better with "plush" toys than our 10 year Shi Tzu ever was. He would skin and gut anything that was plush. With a destructive one like that, make sure that they're safe - no eyes or small parts that can be pulled off. Make sure that their little puppy teeth can't get caught in the material or threading. With our older one, I had to keep those kind of toys until he was older. Good Luck!! |

My poodle has always plucked the fur from her toys, and she has never been interested in the rubber or plastic kind. We always have to throw them out at a certain stage..namely when they look like they have the mange. The only problem I have with this behavior is that the poodle also plays with Uma the same way!!!!:eek: Our Vet. recommended putting a little hot sauce along Umas' back. He assured me it would not harm Uma. Befor doing this I wanted to see how the poodle would react to the hot sauce, so I put a little dab on my finger and let her lick it expecting her to have a OOOH! that is hot!! reaction. The little Booger actually LOVES the hot sauce!!:eek: Good thing I tried it befor applying it to Uma! |
Hahaha, my Mia is like this! She wants to kill and destroy every piece of prey (each toy). It's so funny because she is so small, but she can do such damage! Because of her ferocity, I can't/don't give her booda bones (the rope toys with strings) because she will pull the strings out and can choke on them and/or get them all over the house. For her plush toys, I have to keep a careful watch on them to insure that the stuffing isn't coming out. MAKE SURE that you never allow them to play with toys where pieces/parts can come off, because just like with a child, it's a choking hazard! Keeping that in mind and the fact that you probably don't want to buy toys every few days, my plush toys have to keep undergoing surgery! :) |
The only problem that I have are the Loofa Dogs, Aubrey will tear a whole in it and then run around with the stuffing. I try not to buy cheap toys, Petstages are so far indestructible. You should try them. They are a little more expensive but def. worth the money. |
I just bought plush animals for my little ones and you shoud see them . The squirrel lost his tail , the rabbit doesn't have ears anymore and the duck just have one wing . |
Check out the toys made by Fat Cat Inc. up in Vermont. They are virtually indestructible! Higgins has the little Dirty Rotten Kitty from the Nasty Scaries collection. Also LOVES his Crackling Frog from Fat Cat. Next I'm getting him the George Bush one, then Arnold.....:p The copy that describes them and the stories that come on the tags are a hoot! Oi! I hope Brody doesn't learn how to rip apart his plush toys. He will pick one appendage from each plush and chew it to a nub. We've noticed that anything with "hair" does get a lot of plucking action. Tennis balls might have to be a no-no. I think the three best toys we've found are his hoof, a spare sock with an empty toilet paper roll tied inside and his 99cent frog from Target. :) |
Tino used to destroy his babies ( his humpy buddies) and I would be forced to sew theme back together and they would look like creatures from horror movies...or I would buy at least three of them if he liked them so I could replace them after awhile. But then I went to babies'r'us and bought him the stuffed dogs named "Spunky" and they have held up beautifully. The dolls are made for babies so there are no loose or removeable eyes or things they can choke on...pefect for Yorkie babies too! :animal36 |
