The problem with Susanah is that she is just TOO BRAVE! She honestly has no clue that she is a little yorkie and not a big dog. She can get on the couch all by herself now. I look over and she is on the BACK of the couch getting ready to pounce on Josephine as she walks by. I told her no and to get down. She looked at me like "rigggghhhttt", laughed, and went right back to stalking Josie. I got up to get her and make her get down. What does she do? Runs along the back of the couch playing 'ha ha you can't catch me!" I don't think I'm going to survive the puppy stage. I'm going to line my entire floor with air mattresses and pillows. My couch is a sectional so I think I'm going to break it up and push both pieces up against the wall. That way she can't jump off/fall. *sigh* |
lol 1 Attachment(s) Lacey is like that. she has no fear even though she has fallen. now we have carpet covered ramps that hubby made for the couches and stairs for the bed. they both work out great, she loves the ramp the most she likes to slide down it when she is playing |
Hey I like the ramp. I have been thinking I need stairs for the bed. Do you think a ramp would be better? |

I hear ya, there is NO way for me to get both my couches against a wall, I have an 'open concept' townhouse and the living room only has 2 walls and one has the tv on it bc that is where the cable is, so I have a couch that sort of floats on the line where the floor changes from dining room to living room. My fletcher jumps off the back of that couch ALL the time. I have tried to stop him, change his habits... pillows on the floor (he pees on them)... NOTHING works, hes very headstrong and does it all the time. I do worry about him breaking something... like a leg... especially where I have tile floors! So he does it 20x a day and my heart stops for a second each time. I STILL redirect him to jump from the front of the couch where at least its a LOT shorter distance to the ground... but hes 2 now and he does things HIS way! HAHA |
Oh gosh! I know how you feel! When Daisy started jumping on/off the couch, I'd worry my butt off that she'd "snap a leg" or something...lol. The ramp seems like a wonderful idea. Gotta talk to hubby about it! :) |
I'm going to see if dh will make a ramp too. I don't think its going to help much though. She likes the view from up there. Perfect for pouncing on unsuspecting Josie and for giving me a heart attack. I've started saving up for the day she, God forbid, jumps off and breaks a leg or something. |
Lol. Too funny. |
scoobiedooiscoo - I love that picture! We call that "puppy legs" when they sprawl them out like that. There's not much cuter! I've heard you're supposed to really try to keep them from jumping off of things and even jumping up. But isn't that like trying to get a cat to stop rubbing up against your leg?? It's what they do!! |
I had comforters and pillows on the floor behind every peice of furniture they could fall off of. It was not good for the decor but I was nervous too!! Susanah! Don't give mommy a heart attack!! |
Trying to keep Susanah from jumping is like trying to keep the starving tiger from eating the steak you just put in front of him. We had one of those 4inch memory foam mattress pad things on our bed. I made DH take it off and cut in half so that half of it is on the floor on each side of the bed. I HATE having hardwood floors. We have them in every room. I like having the extra cushy carpet. More protection. |
