One, or two? Ness and I lived for most of his puppyhood with three guy roommates. As you can imagine, three 19 - 20 year old males can keep a puppy busy. Now he's 1.5 years, and it's just the two of us in our apartment. I can't really keep up, he has the energy to play with four people instead of just one. My mom came to visit and thinks the solution is another dog. "He needs a puppy of his own!" she says. But Ness and I are really close. We are best friends and you can just tell how he feels about me. I wouldn't want to lessen that bond. So I'm hesitant to consider another dog at all, someone who might come between us. However, there is a woman looking for a home for her yorkie girl. Another 3 pound yorkie, what a find right? But... I'm leaning towards no. I'm a student, the cost of another dog will be quite a bit more than just Ness and I. But I know he would get all the playtime he deserves... |
You really need to consider the money before you decide. As I'm sure you know, the prices to keep our pups healthy can rack up a hefty bill at any given time. But, I don't think you really have to worry about not being as close with Ness. I'm sure you'd find that you have plenty of love to go around. and Ness will always love you as much as he does, that's one of the great things about dogs. :) Good luck! |
If you have the time, I say you should consider it. I am a college student with two dogs, and the costs really aren't that much more with two opposed to one. |
I understand about how close you are to Ness, because Piper and I are close, and when I brought Penny in his feelings were hurt. He's getting over it now, but I had to give him a lot of attention. Ness would probably like a buddy, but you do have to think about vet bills and such. |
I'm struggling with the same decision, other than the hubby not exactly wanting to start over with another one when we're barely done with the first. I'm really only concerned with the bond. Vinnie came first and he's so special and I don't want him to feel any less. |
