Whats the best collar???? Hi all I was just wondering what you all think would be the best type of collar for my 3lb Louie. I had heard that I should get a harness because of the wind pipe or something breaking. I got a harness but it still seems to choke him when he runs to far from me on the leash or when he pulls. Any advise would be appreciated! thanks! Tami :animal-sm  |
if your walking him then use a harness do not use a collar to walk him at all sorry if im not much help lol :D |
collar The best collar, is no collar. Use a small harness. I do put walking collars on the large Yorkie who does not pull at them..but mostly to show off their matching Yorkie collar and leash set. They only walk a few steps, then I get to carry them home...so I bought a doggie stroller and we are all happy. |
I like the collars made by Lupine. I like the pattern and is has a life time guarentee from damage down from chewing(which I have held them too several times). They are the few company that make dog collars that fit my ex-4lbs yorkie(I have her away to my sister who lost her yorkie to a blotch spaying.) But I don't think a collar will prevent him from tugging at his leash. Try letting him drag the leash around(supervised) and get use to it. Also remember not to jerk the leash really hard. That is how many dogs get damage to their throats. |
Harness is a must. I've never experienced choking with one, even with heavy pulling. Another option is the step in harness. You cann get info on the products forum. |
It's true, the best collar for a Yorkie is no collar. You'll have to use the harness. Work on training him how to behave with it on. Good luck! |
I put harnesses on my 2 when I'm walking them, otherwise they do not wear collars. |
Same here. Cosmo only wheres a harness when we go walking. Other than that he is naked. lol |
