PetCo Has anyone ever gone to PetCo for puppy training lessons. They just opened one by me, and I was wondering how good they are? |
I didn't even know they offered those.. |
I went there, and honestly we didn't learn anything from the classes :( . Emma was 16 weeks when we started the puppy training classes, and she was WAY ahead of all the other puppies in there with her obedience, potty training, and tricks. The only things it DID help with was her socialization-it was good for her to be around other dogs, and it helped with leash walking in public places-but that could have been due to the experience and age, rather than the class. I feel like we could have saved our money, and worked with her at home and at the park, and gotten the same results. We didn't even take Milli to puppy training classes! On top of that, it wasn't really that clean, and it was difficult because there were really unruly, large puppies in the class too that were hard to control, so I worried about them hurting Emma as a puppy. |
Oh, I was also going to mention that you should look in your area for private puppy training classes-usually they're better, more structured, and cost only a little more. People I know that have taken them say they're good for the dog and the owners. Remember that if you're going to take the classes, you have to do your homework and work with your dog too! A lot of the people in our class didn't-and held the whole class up. |
Thanks for the input. I'll check around for other training programs. I'd like to get into some kind of clicker training class. |
