collar on? collar off? BB on? BB off? Chloe always have her collar on her neck. And I recently purchased BB for her so it will be easier on her neck when we walk. Now I have a question. Do you guys always leave collar on your baby? What about BB (if you have one)? I think it is little odd to have both on at the same time?? What do you normally do? |
Rudy & Lucky have their collars and harness's on all the time. It's just easier for us to keep their harness's on instead of taking them off and on. The reason why I keep their collars on all the time is we have their names and our phone # on the collars and all their tags on there also. I know some people have had problems with leaving the collars on all the time. But we never have. So I'd rather be safe than sorry. They both are microchipped also. P.S. Am I stupid but what do you mean by BB? |
my guys always have there tags & collar on i agree what is a bb? |

oh hehe, BB stands for Buddy Belt (harness). They are soft, leather and goood!!! :D |
hmm, i think if i have collar on, bb on and clothes on...that is a lot!! don't u guys think so?? |
I probably should keep Zada and Azrael's collars on all the time, but I don't. They don't have access to the doggie door when we are not home, and I have the expen surrounding the front door. I always put their collars on when we take them with us but only for their ID tag. I use the harness and leashes for walking them. |

no they only need there tags harness come off after a walk it will prob irritate there under arms |
We always take their harnesses off after they get walked...We don't keep them on them all the time. My furbabies are microchipped, and wear their tags on their harnesses... |
I keep the collar on the whole time (with tags). Then when we go for a walk I put their harnesses on them. |
I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of my buddy belt, thought getting nervous, i'm not fond of the site I used, they keep giving me different information, and the tracking number they gave me days ago doesn't work, first they told me UPS, then USPS, so i'm concerned, but when and apparently IF it comes, i will put his necessary tags on the harness and just forget about the collar, i don't like the collar anyways, the only one I can find that is small enough for him he can take off (YIKES!! :2omg:) |

Good luck and glad you are using a harness on your baby. |
My rocky has never worn a collar and I dont want him to. I like dogs without collars they look more free lol |
I take all collars and harness off my Girls..One day I came home and my baby had caught her lower jaw in her collar. Now that might have been my fault because it was to loose But, I do not take a chance no more. I put them on when we leave home |
I was wondering about what others do to and thought of starting a thread yesterday about it - never got to though :D My babies don't even have collars. They have harnesses for walks, but other than that they go without. I think the harness messes up the hair more. Problem is, I think what if they got out of the yard (yes, there microchipped) but without any tags on what if they escaped with no big tag saying where they live for the easiest return. Any advice out there :aimeeyork :) yorkiesmiles |

I just use regular collars...If they are snug enough chances are slim that there will be a problem. Good luck. |
I keep collar w/ tags on all the time ( except sometimes while in crate)and put harness on when using leash. I wasnt sure what to do and asked around and I am happy with this solution and Kirby seeems fine with it.:aimeeyork |
Sadie doesn't ever wear a collar. When we go for walks in the neighborhood, she wears a harness. The only other time she is out of the house, is in my backyard which is completely fenced in and I am always supervising her - cause I don't trust her any further than I can throw her - LOL!!! |
Maya only wears her Collar when we leave the house or when I let her in the Yard. She is microchipped also, just in case I forget to put it on, but that has not happend so far. She gets excited when she sees the Collar because that means we leave or she can go outside to play. |
Ryo's collar stays on all the time. The vest is put on for outings and comes off when we get home. |
I keep my two in the yard, but when we go for a walk I attach their tags to their halters. |
I felt i needed to keep tags on at all times...maybe just a nervous mom with a new pup, but i am afraid she will possibly find a way to escape out of the house and run and get lost .We have precautions against this in the house....but not fool proof. |
They are so quick sometimes and so little that things can happen. When we first got Zoe, my 3 year old was outside and I was trying to get him to come in and I opened the back door and he wasn't there and then I went to the front door and brought him in. a minute or two later i notice Zoe was not underfoot like usual! She had snuck out the back door when i had opened it. Luckily she was just out back and hadn't gone beyond my back yard but it really scared me! She's so sweet noone would want to bring her back. She's is microchipped but you never know! Since then, I've been a lot more careful - even though I thought I was being careful then. I am always the 1st one to go out and she has caught on to that and thankfully doesn't try to scoot out 1st anymore. |
Both of my guys wear their collars & tags at all times. They wear their harnesses (with another tag) when we go for walks. |
I actually have a collartag. I don't like the traditional kind b/c i worry it might get caught with something!! The collartag is nice...doesnt make noise( I wish it does though so i know where she at!! oh well!!) I bought a petcharm (lil bell) to attach to the collar but chloe just destory it after i bought it for one day!!! |
Max always wears his collar because it has his tag on it. The harness only goes on when we go out. When we go in the car, the harness gets hooked to the seat belt and he goes into the Outward Hound, collar, harness, seat belt attachment and all. He got hooked onto something wearing the cat breakaway collar once. It was a fluke - it didn't open because of the way it got hooked. He chews his way out of anything that's cloth so I got him a leather collar and leash. It's Coach, so it looks nice too. I'm very overcautious with him, but he's used to me. |
