Did Hunter get weighed wrong? Just got back from the vet with Hunter. He had his third set of shots and he is 16 weeks old. When he was weighed at 12 weeks old he was 2.11 now at 16 weeks they say he weighes 4.9. Just does not seem right. He doesn't eat that much. Do you think they told me the wrong weight? Could he have gained that much in a month? What would be the average weight gain each month for this age? |
That seems like a lot. I would expect about 1/2 lb |
Doesn't sound right to me either. Almost 2 pounds in a month is a LOT even with a growth spurt. |
That might be a bit too much. Do you have a scale? |
I looked through Zoey's baby book.At 8 wekks she was 2lbs. At 12 weeks she was 2.3lbs then at 16 weeks, she weighed 3lbs even. |
Go find a scale, hold him and then put him down and deduct your weight without him from your weight with him. He's eating well! |
Yep I would check him with your scale. My Vet has given me incorrect weights before |
I agree weigh him yourself. It sounds way to much. |

Did Hunter have a harness or collar on this time? Although 2lbs would be a heavy harness. That still could have affected it. Otherwise that sounds like an awful lot of weight to gain. It's easiest to weigh them if you weigh yourself then hold him and weigh yourself with him again. |
Just weighed myself and then Hunter and I. According to my scale he weighes 4lb. even. I did not think he ate that much. :aimeeyork |
Last time i took karlieigh to the vet they did not weigh her right, I had to have them redo it, said she had gained 1 1/2 no way, she has been 4 &1/2 pounds now for over a year, they did it over even though they didnt want to:rolleyes: and i was right:D gosh i love it when that happens:p |
Wanted to say that Hunter weighed 3.8oz. when he was born. At 8 weeks he weighed 1.7lb. Took him to another vet at 9 weeks he weighed 2.1lb., same vet at 12 weeks 2.11lb. then today at at 16 weeks 4.9lb. He did not have a collar or harness on when weighed he hadn't even eaten yet, and he pooped and threw up on the way to vet. :aimeeyork |
Some dogs go through growth spurts...That does not mean that he's overweight at all...My yorkie grew fast as well..At 12 weeks, he weighed in at 1lb 2 oz(but when we got him, he was severely malnourished), and he ended up at 11 lbs... |
