I am afraid of hypoglycemia I have a question, Meeka is at the vet right now to be fixed. I am so nervous, one thing I keep thinking about it that she hasnt eaten since last night and that cant be good for her being so small. Any one have a problem with this? I am afraid of hypoglycemia (sp??) |
well i have a hypoglycemic fur butt....the older they get the less they tend to have this....not to say it cannot happen but odds are reduced as they grow and put on weight. If you are worried give her nutrical in very small amount throughout the day if she isnt eating. I doubt she will eat and I am sure the vet is giving her an IV and probably pumping a fair amount of sugar in her to keep blood/sugar level stable. Nutrical should be given if she doesnt eat it is a supplement she doesnt need it if she is eating. I wish you rbaby luck and your a good mom for asking about this BEFORE you have a problem GOOD JOB! wish i would have been told about it!! lol I learned the hard way! |
Ask your vet when you pick her up if the IV had gluclose in it and if Hypo should worry you. They may also sell or have nutrical there and explain how to administer if at all. |
When Cali had her surgery for spaying, possible intestinal blockage and a liver biopsy, she had already had 2 episodes of hypoglycemia. They kept her on an Iv so that she wouldn't go hypoglycemic during her stay there. You may want to call the vet and just tell them your concern so they can be proactive. I think most vets watch for that in these small dogs, but you will feel better having let them know, Good luck let us know when your baby is home. |
i hope everything turns out good for you. i am sure she will be ok |
