"Cottony " fur?? Can someone post a pic of thier "Cottony " baby ?! I dont know what this looks like !!! |
1 Attachment(s) Here's a test...feel your yorkie's fur. Does it feel like soft cotton candy, or like smooth silk? I know this is a booty pic :p but look at their hair side by side: Emma, on the left, has a cotton coat, which has softer, more feathery hair. It mats easily, and needs daily brushing. She is SO soft, no matter what the length of her hair. Milli, on the right, has a silk coat. It lays down better, is shiny, and feels smoother to the touch. Sorry again for showing you their rear ends, but this really shows their hair types well next to each other! |
my coco has combitation fur lol |
1 Attachment(s) Tink has a cotton coat. Yep, matts are a definite problem. Notice the difference between the hair on her head and the hair on her back/butt and legs. The back is the cotton coat.:) |
1 Attachment(s) lolas hair is not silky heres a pic i dunno if u can tell! |
4 Attachment(s) So, he's about 1 week shy of 4 months, and growing silver under his black !! I cant tell if hes gonna be silky or cottony !!!! can you usually tell by this age ?!?!?! |
usually black yorkies have cotton'wooly hair i think (but I am not sure) that your dog's hair will be VERY light. in my opinion, for this age he has alot silver already... probably will be silky... |
3 Attachment(s) Here's my baby Chanel...she's cottony (1st 2 pics) then my little sweetie -Cheri - who is silky Your puppy looks like he'll be light in color |
I thought eye color told the tale..or is that just a saying? Just something I heard once. Gizmo's eyes are green in his pictures and he is silky. |
Yes if their eye color is red it is cottony and green/blue silky. |
coat Comparing Suzy's two Yorks is a good example of light reflection...a cotton coat is flat in color, little reflection...silk reflects light and has a shine..good photo's for learning. |
Hi, black-coated yorkies tend to have cottony texture. My six year old Rubi's coat is cottony. She's got a black coat which is softer to the touch than the silken texture. I mats more easily and it's easier you'll snap its ends off when brushing out. They look quite fluffy, like having lots of hair. Sorry I've got no pictures on my computer of her yet.:) |
I cut my Jess VERY shortly on her back.... It is waaaay easier for me take care of her and I would recommend this hair style for "cotton" yorkies:) . They look nicer I think:thumbup: . Last time I risked and cut all body very shortly, and trimmed a little bit her legs, tail, and head. Schnauzer type. But don't cut everything, it doesn't look right...:) very cute summer cut:thumbup: , just recommendation...:) |
4 Attachment(s) I have 2 boys, from the same liter. One has a cotton coat and one has a silky coat. Fletch is silky and a lot more silvery, Dexter is black still, no silver. They are almost 2 years old. Sorry I had a bum shot too, but you can really tell the difference with this pic! :D pic 1 - fletch in back (silky) dex in front (cotton) pic 2 - Dex (cotton) Pic 3 - Fletch (silky) Pic 4 - Left Fletch (silky) Right Dex (cotton) |
2 Attachment(s) Unfortunately, I don't have pics of her latest style, but this is just examples how she looked before, when I didn't cut her at all, and how she looks now. Sorry, pic are not best... PS: sorry, I couldn't attach pic how she looked before. Pic below show how I cut her back........ |
