Hi here is a picture of my yorkie, Geordie. He is 16 weeks old. I just got him a week ago. He is so sweet and getting used to his new surroundings. I have a 16 yr. old yorkie mix and a 2 yr. old mini dachshund. Both girls. My mini just loves the puppy and they play all day together..so cute. Geordie is slowly getting used to the leash, but if I decide to go a different direction, he just lies down and won't budge. I hope you can open the attachment. I don't know how to put a picture in my letter. Perhaps someone can help me in this.

thanks for your messages. This is all new to me. I have never been on a chat website before.
How do you stop puppy from chewing furniture. My yorkie is in my kitchen/dining room and he has discovered my dining room table legs, as did my mini dachs 2 years ago. I bought a bitter spray from Petco, but it really doesn't work. Someone told me to use tabasco sauce. Any other ideas.

The easiest thing for us is "redirecting" our puppies attentions elsewhere. Chewing on the leg? Wiggle the rope until they chew that instead.

Generally playing with them and keeping them engaged in GOOD toys will solve the problem. If they get overly stimulated and totally hyped up and "wild" I place mine back in the crate for 15 minutes or so until they've calmed down a bit.

We never leave our puppies (I also recently adopted a beagle puppy) in the home unsupervised. We have a puppy porch they can play on, their crates for sleeping or they are with us. Which is how they spend 80% of their time during day!! Tagging along with us whatever we are doing.

So if you are supervising them it's easy to redirect their attention to an appropriate toy.

I tend to have LOTS of chewing options at that age. They are like tiny children - they forget where they put their toys. Have plenty in each major room of the house. I find the big knotted up ropes to be popular with our puppies.

Your baby is so cute in the pic. I have a 14 wk old ..had it two weeks now. He does not get the leacs thing at all....well he will walk a bit with my husband...just a tad though. Is yours doing any better? have you learned any tricks to help him along?:aimeeyork

Like suggested before, constant supervision and redirection is the best route. That being said, we're all human, right? The chair I'm sitting on right now still has the chew marks from my 10 year old when he was a pup. I kept it just because it reminds me how long I've loved him. Now our 5 month old is chewing on the kitchen table legs. We tried the bitter sprays too which work for a while. There is an "outside" bitter spray which is a little stronger. But you need to spray it into a paper towel and blot it on, because it smells really bad if you just spray it in the house. But usually we just offer him a replacement toy which he readily chomps on to instead. (Luckily, we don't just love the kitchen set so will someday replace it.) Good Luck!!

Congrats on your new doggie. He's a darling. Hope to see more pics of him. Wow, you've got a 16 year old yorkie. How is she doing? Are her sight and hearing good? I've got a 14 hear old one, Jennie ,and 6 year old Rubi:D . Jennie is totally blind, not from her old age but because she developed a retina problem some years ago. Now her hearing is almost gone, but apart from that she's in an awesome shape. How about yours? Looking forward to seeing pics of them, the three of them.

He's so cute. He's the same age as my baby. She was born on April 1st. Good luck with him!
