Your advice needed ...going back to work I going back to work next week after staying at home for about 6 months ...now I have a dilemma I will be working monday to friday from 8:30 to 5 PM . Two days I will go home during lunch time to take Royce for a small walk and sothat he does not spend 8 hours alone and for the other 2 days I will hire a dog walker to come and walk Royce ...I have so far found 2 dog walkers who walk dogs in my area they have good references but still I dont feel comfortable having someone else walking Royce ( I'm scared something might go wrong like an accident ... and I will never forgive myself ) . Please what should I do ? 1-Go home during lunch hour twice a week and the other 2 days Royce will stay alone for 8 hours ? 2- go home during luch time every day ( in that came it will be exhausting for me because in order to go home for 1 hour and come back to work I basically have to sprint . 3- trust one of the 2 dog walkers that I met ? |
have one of them come over for a "get to know you" visit. i do this with the dogs AND my son. then you could walk together and have it done "your way." |

I used to just leave the TV or Radio on for the dogs and LOTS of toys!!!! Fun times without mommy home. When I came home I would put the special toys away for the next day. Then they had something to look forward to. I went home whenever i had a longer break/less work. I wouldn't be able to trust a dog walker or sitter. I'd be more worried all day. You could also set up a webcam in where you keep your baby so you could watch all day. Good luck! |

You are absolutely right thats how I feel also and if an accident happens with the dog walker because she is careless I would never forgive myself . I would rather sprint to my home during lunch time everyday to spend time with Royce . Thanks for sharing your advice:) |
Hello Myriam! Well now that you are going back into the "work" place I would suggest to at first sprint home at least 4 times a week and then 3 and then 2 each week untill he gets used to it gradually. I know you love Royce more than words can say so I agree that it is better to have him used to spending time alone during the day than trusting a stranger to walk him outside. Perhaps in the future once you settle in your new job and schedule you can meet the right walker that you could feel more comfortable with, but for now you do not need the additional stress... Big hugs to you! :) and sweet Royce :aimeeyork |
how about trying to find someone that has Yorkies to help out? Talk to your vet clinic they might know someone close to you that wouldnt mind walking your pup and theirs together. This person would be completely arware of the dangers and it could a play date for both dogs. |
