Microchip migrated - should I worry? The title of this thread says it all, really. I had Ceiba microchipped several weeks ago and the chip seems to have migrated from her shoulders down to the front of her leg, near her neck. I know because I was feeling all over her shoulders to see if I could feel the chip like I did when it was first implanted. I found it, but not where it's supposed to be. Should I be concerned? I would think it still works, but I'm thinking that the implantation wasn't done correctly. Thoughts? |
 I just had Uma microchipped today. The Doctor says it won't migrate. I have no advice to give, but I am very curious as to why your babys' migrated and if it happens a lot. I wish I had waited a bit longer! |
I just took my yorkie in on friday; I am on the phone to the vet's asking the very same question, which you have posted Ceibasmom. Answer, the vet said if that happens, to bring the yorkie in and they will replace, which could mean a dog can end up having more than one. Check with your vet. Tulip |
I don't have any personal experience with migrating chips. My sis-n-law did have two of her dogs rechipped because of it though. Both ended up around the chest area. |
Hey all - thanks for the tip. I called the vet and they sounded very surprised/concerned and asked me to bring her in. So I will be taking her in later today and see what they say. I will post an update later tonite/early tomorrow! :animal-pa |
