My baby has Coccidia! I just got Mia last night, when we woke up she was not moving around much and then started to throw up. I took her to the vet and she was tested and she has coccidia and was very hypoglacimic. Her temp was 103. She is on Albon and I have to force feed her every hour. She has diarea real bad and still throws up every once in a while but she does seem better then this morning. Please pray for her, I already love her. I called the breeder and she had no idea she was sick, but I wanted to warn her because the vet said her litter mates will probably have it also. The breeder is going ahead and treating them even though they have no signs yet. The vet said that she probably started showing the signs because of the stress of going to her forever home. I am kind of scared, I hope she gets better soon, she looks so pitiful. :( |
Oh poor puppy. I will pray for your little loved one. Im so sorry to hear about her problem, but im sure she's a fighter and will do her best to overcome this obsticle. |
aww poor puppy!! i hope everything turns out okay! |
I'm sorry to hear about your puppy! I am sure she will be just fine since you caught this in time. Just make sure she is eating and drinking enough so that she doesnt get hypogycemic again! |

I'm so sorry to hear that but it sounds like your baby is in wonderful hands with you! |
Thank you all so much! this forum is just so wonderful, I am so thankful I found you all. I would be alot more scared if I didn't have you all. :) |
I recently went through the same thing and it is horrible and scary. My pup pulled through and is now thriving and healthy and happy. I hope your pup gets better soon! |
Sorry about your pup being sick for her homecoming. Sending healing vibes her way. Congrats on your new baby, she sounds like a doll. :) |

WOW, that is exactly how my first 2 days went with my yorkie. To my understanding, coccidea is very common in puppies and can be treated fairly easily with medicine. And hypoglycemia is fairly easy to control once you know what to look for and you shuold be okay since you are feeding her by hand every hour. Unfortunately for CHloe, her mommy had to learn the hard way. Luckily the hypoglycemia is only for thier first 6 months. Good luck , and I will pray for her. |
I am sorry to hear that Mia is sick and hope she feels better soon. It sounds like she is getting great care between you and your vet. Also, it was very good thinking on your part to notify the breeder and glad to see that the other puppies are being monitored. Please keep us posted. |
Oh no, I am sorry to heat Mia is sick. It doesn\'t take long to fall in love with them does it? Don\'t stress about it too much, she is in good hands and is being treated. She will be a little ball of energy very soon. Puppy kisses to Mia. |
How is Mia tonight?? Is she getting any Kaopectate or Pepto for the diarrhea? But only if the stool is really often and really watery. |
Checking in on your baby - is she feeling better today ? |
