insect sting...what do I do? So... I decided to go and water my mom's flowers out in the backyard today when I got off from work. I was totally unaware that one pot was apparently the favorite "hang out" of a family of bees  All I heard was bzzzz bzzzzz bzzzz bzzzz and then I heard my oldest Yorkie yip really loud...I looked back and saw him biting himself on the side. I am screaming trying to get the bees away from me and am getting stung left and right and hear my poor doggie yelp again. I am allergic to bees and immediately ran into the house to retrieve my epipen shot with my dog following behind. Because I am allergic and had multiple bee stings I called a friend who took me to urgent care to make sure I was going to be okay and dropped my dog off at a neighbor's house because I didn't want him being by myself as he had been stung. I get home and get my dog and he was still in pain :( I take him in to an emergency veterinary hospital and they sent me home with some things. He is still biting one spot on his side...I can't figure out what to do. I can't cover it up as I don't know how I'd do that with all that fur that yorkies have :p That's the only problem he has right now. He keeps licking/biting/scratching that area. I've yelled at him to stop and he looks at me with this sad face :( I have the same problem with where I got the stings at but I can wrap it up in gauze...I can't really wrap my doggie up in gauze... Anyone else have a yorkie that got stung by a bee? How can I get him to stop biting that side? I am scared if he keeps it up then it'll get infected :( |
give him 1/2 teaspoon of childrens bendryl I was just at the vet today and Diggy is 3 pounds and the vet said 1/4-1/2 teaspoon for up to 7 pounds I would'nt be as worried about infection as him being allergic to sting. |
Oliver got stung by a bee on his leg. He screamed like I've never heard before. I hope I never here that sound again. He came running to me in the house and luckily it was stuck in the hair on his leg. If it hadn't been stuck I wouldn't have known what was wrong with him. He favored it for awhile but then he was OK. I agree with Diggy, I'd definately give him some benedryl. Hope your both feeling better soon. |
