I am so depressed right now :( I may have to give up my baby boy Buster. My landlord has decided to sell and the new owners do not lalow pets :( I live in NY and finding a place like the one I have ( at the price its at) is hard to come by. I'm not sure what to do...just wanted to vent here. :fallen: I feel like my little family is being torn apart...it was me for alone for a long time and I was gifted by being able to get Buster and now I may have to let him go :cry8: :cry8: |
maybe you could see if they have a "grandfather" clause. since they are taking over and you have pets, ask if they'll consider a pet deposit. you CAN't possibly be the only person there with a furchild! also, maybe when you say pet, they mean large animal. some places that will not accept pits or labs will let you have a small animal. how long have you had your puppy? |
Are you month to month or do you have a lease? I don't think that they can change in the middle on you without notice and not at all while you are under the lease. You might check with a local legal service if you have one. |
It's a house so im the only renter, the new owners have met me and Buster....I just don't know what to do. Ive had Buster for about 2 months...unfortunately I didnt have a lease with the original owners because they were family friends so I was to sign a lease with the new owners which is when this whole no pet thing came up. I cant tell you how mad I was, it wasnt like they didnt know about Buster they met and their daughter was playing with him!!!!!!!! UGggggggggh Im too upset now to think straight!!! |
Thank you all for your words of help....im so sad.... |
I would beg and plead and ask them if you can pay a pet deposit. |
I'm so very sorry for the situation you are put in. I had to give my little Reese not too long ago, and it was very tough on me. If you ever need someone to talk to, I'm here. But I'm crossing my fingers that you do get this worked out. Finding an apartment that allows pets in NY is almost as hard as finding one in CA. I know what you're going through. Ashley |

we're behind you! |
I would offer to pay a pet deposit. Explain how much Buster means to you and that if you had known all this, you wouldn't have bought him. But, now you have him, and you can't just let him go. I would beg if I had to. |
Yes I definetly plan on doing some spectacular begging.....I just set up a meeting with them for tomorrow ** Cross your Fingers ** I really dont see what the problem is, he hasnt cause any damage at all and hes so cute how could they say no right????? All of your replies are really boosting my attitude Thankyou sooooooooooooooooooo much |

Hope the meeting is a success. Praying that they'll accept your baby. |
Sounds like you've got a good plan. Would your previous landlord back you up and tell them there's been no problem with Buster? That might help, too. Good luck. Sending lots of positive vibes your way. Try to keep your chin up. Negative thoughts can breed and that won't help you!:) |
Yes, I think with some negotiating of a pet deposit, they will let you keep him. |
This is bad, but I would do anything to keep my dog. If you're the only one that lives there, and they absolutely will not allow any pets, then just don't tell them you have a dog. I've rented out a couple times, and the landlord never comes by. Besides, we're not talking about a huge dog that will tear up things and ruin the house. Anyway, I know I'm bad, but hey, you can't give up your baby. |
