Smaller than 2.5 lbs? Does anyone have a yorkie smaller than 2.5 lbs.? My Bentley weighed 1.3 at 7 mos. at the vet 2 weeks ago and I am hoping he will gain more weight! I just want him to be healthy and happy! Have you had problems with them being SO SMALL? Did any of you help them gain weight (healthily)? Thanks in advance! |
1 Attachment(s) When you say 2.5 POUNDS do you mean 2 pounds 5 ounces. I have a 2 year old that weighs 2 pounds 11 ounces. I noticed when we got a new puppy (not a yorkie) a little while back, Candee would eat the puppy food (she was not suppose to, but she did sometimes) she gained at least 5 ounces it's not alot but in these small breeds it makes a difference. And also after I spayed her she put on a few more ounces, I was happy :), thats how she got to 2.11ounces.. Oh, yes maybe substitute a little boiled chicken breast for a meal might help among other treats also.. |
I do not own one that small..unless we're talking about puppies.;) There is a lady here in town named Francis. She owned a yorkie that was over a year old that weighed under 1 lb (like 14 ounces). I don't know why, but she decided to get her spayed. Needless to say, she didn't make it out of the surgery. |

pee wee I used to a tiny girl who was 1 full pound. She lived through spaying and dental due to an infection..lived to 4 yrs, had a large open font. Then I had two of my own who were 2 pounders..both lived with the same friend who knew how to care for then..one lived until 14, but the other was 7 when she died. I have had lots of 3 pounders as pets and never found their life any shorter when well cared for...by that I mean, I kept meds for loose stools on hand from the vet and they were dosed if needed asap. |
