i am so Pissed right now a little girl i sold 2 years ago on limited Reg has a litter of puppies IN A PET STORE i guess she turned around and ckc reg her so she could have a reg breeder and get some pedigree with ckc too. the owner of the local pet store was like so and so has 14 puppies out of two litters .....of yorkies and i was like that sounds off unless the yorkies are larger and still that rare and he said no one is a Tiny shes one of yours .............i blew my top with everything else thats off right now i may end up in jail shes selling my babies babys to a friggin pet store for 400 dollars OMGGGGGG any lawyers in here i may need to know my rights cause im gonna slap her silly :mad: might even let piglet bite her

What?? Are you serious?? I can't see how people could buy from a pet store, sorry if anyone in here did buy from there. To me they are just nasty, unless its like Petsmart or Petco.

i bought at a pet store, but i'm not offended at all. this was 8 years ago, and i had no idea anything like puppy mills existed.

but yorkie_mama, i'd be pissed, too. did you have a contract with her? if you did, go ahead and sue, maybe they'll learn their lesson:thumbdown

I hope you had a contract with her. If so, I'd sue & I'd get all those little puppies out of the pet store. Good luck!

Did you have a spay and neuter contract as well or just limited registration?
If it is just limited registration, several people will buy a dog on limited registration and then register it with another registry so they can sell the pups.

yes i have contracts but i am staying with amy aka countrygirl 2hr away from home and i want to have my contracts in hand before i call her so i can perhaps fax her a copy of her contract to prove i have it i only keep my contracts for 5 years i should just file them away for ever and i bet she did the same thing to the other dog she has because two years ago she didnt have any other dogs

This is the very reason these bogus registries exist. Perhaps you should re-consider what limited registration really does for you.

The way I see it, and anyone feel free to correct me if I am wrong, is that limited registration basically protects your lines. The AKC pedigree ends there, and if they breed, it will not be a reflection on the lines you have bred.

If what you really want to do is to keep the puppies you let go from being bred at all, you need to hold on to them until they are fixed, and then let them go. I don't know how CKC works. If they accept AKC papers as part of the pedigree. You could sell on spay/neuter contract and withhold papers until you receive proof, but I'm sure there are still other registries where the dog could come without pedigree at all.

I'm sorry this has happened to your puppies. It is unfortunate, but limited registration really can't protect them from situations like that. :(

This is a couple lines from the contract I recently signed when I purchased my Himalayan kitten.

Buyer understands that this feline has been spayed or neutered. Or Buyer must spay/neuter said feline after 2 weeks of purchase date, and before 8 weeks from purchase date. Failure to comply with this agreement will result in the buyer owing the Seller an additional $500.00….

Buyer understands and agrees if any of the terms in this agreement are disregarded, that Seller may reclaim this feline and any offspring without refund of purchase price, as Seller’s sole property

The breeder I got her from almost always spays/neuters the kittens before placing them so my kitten was already spayed before she came home with me. But I like the line in her contract that said "violation of any of these terms can result in the seller taking back the cat and any offspring."

Did you have anything like that in your contract? Or anything about violating the terms gives you the right to take the dog back?

Poor dog and poor puppies for being sold in a petstore. Who knows what terrible homes some of these puppies could be going to..

I am not sure what leg you have to stand on since you sold her under a limited registration and not with a spay/neuter clause. I work at a large law firm...I will ask my boss if anything can be done. If you can find the contract email me a copy. I am going to pm you my email address.

I would be PO'ed too! Some people don't even consider them as little lives, they just consider the money in their pocket. DISGUSTING!!! I wish I lived near you, I wouldn't tolerate that at all!

i think this is why lots of breeders have them spayed before going to a new home.

I really think that is the best way :)

I bought Max from a pet store and wasn't offended at all by what you said. I've learned so much on YT! I'll never buy from a pet store again, although I'm so glad I got my littlle boy.

I"m confused - I know nothing about breeding and maybe that's why - but are you upset that a pup you sold had a couple of litters - or are you upset because the litters were sold to a pet store. I thought the idea of not buying from a pet store is because of the puppy mills - If that's true - these pups are not from a puppy mill - they are from a person who bred and sold to a pet store. I've said before I got Baxter from a pet store - who gets her pups from local breeders - She does not have many puppies - and usually never two of a kind - What am I missing here?

bizzy you rock my uncle is a lawyer also large firm in bay area but usually works with labor issues My friend who owns the pet store told her I know and im Po'ed. and I think i may do the holding of the papers untill i get the vet's papers proving they have been fixed perhaps with a picture attached so i know its my puppy ... i have never sued anyone and I wish i could trust someone on a handshake but i cant i am such a wuss one older lady came over to my house to trim my parrots beak and fell in love with a puppy like three years ago and I let her pay me 50 dollars a month for two + years just on gut feeling ..she never let me down and the little boy is her heart. but ...not everyone is that way.

and ida it's confusing i know so as a breeder i feel i am 100% responsible for my puppys ...they didnt ask to be born and when i find new homes i make shure they get limited registration so they dont just get a whim and decide to have puppies ...and i explane to people over and over again why no breeding too many yorkie die as a result of people thinking breeding a yorkie would be quick money or like breeding other breeds its not and the idea of my babies out there breeding SCARES THE POO OUTTA ME some people will let them welp outside ive heard of people steping on new puppies since they just had them where ever. whole litter getting parvo and dying in HORRIBLE pain ...im stoping these are my nightmares. Ida i hope this make more sense of why im so ..hurt/mad .if a novice want to breed a yorkie i would first off want to know why and second want them to be willing to stay in close contact so i could help with proper lines bitch care and puppy care

I totally understand now - I certainly would not be happy having someone "practice" breeding on one of my dogs. It's just unfortunate more people are breeding because of money and not because of the love of the breed.
