Biewer Question Okay I heard there is a new test that you can do on a dog that will tell you what breed that "mixed" dog is. So if you run this test on a Biewer, wouldn't that clear up the controversy of where the Pie Bald gene came from in the yorkie? From my understanding is there are 2 beliefs 1, the pie bald came from a maltese being bred with yorkie. 2, that it is carried in the yorkie naturally with no inter bredding of another breed of dog. I dont know enough about the Biewer (except how stinkin cute they are, and I want one) to even start to answer this thought maybe someone with Parti/Biewer experiance may help me out here. |
Hey Paula! Yorkietalk has a sister site called www.biewertalk.com You might try that forum and see if you can get more info. |
Thanks! I was seeing lots of views but no answers...Im just curious and it hit me tonight when I was thinking about that test for mix breeds and how fun it would be to find out exactly what mix you have! Or solve the pie bald gene origin. EIther way just thought it was a good question. |
I don't know about the validity of this test. Can someone direct me to a link? I think this would be a great question to bring to the genetist coming to the IABCA show in S. CA next month. |
Im not sure about a link or how accurate the test is or if its out....I seen a segment on the Today show about it....Id say it was a month or 2 ago. Ill google it and see what I can find. Ill let ya know what I find :) I was really curious about it being I get asked if Diggy has it a lot. I dont think he does but would be interesting to know for sure. |
Sorry it was good morning america http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/story?id=3193494 Here is how the article starts..... Although purebreds compete in front of judges for best in show at the Westminster dog show, it's every day mutts that compete for the affection of millions of Americans. Now, thanks to a new doggie DNA test -- the wisdom panel from Mars Veterinary -- curious mutt owners can finally trace their dogs' roots. |
