My new puppy could be a redleg... 2 Attachment(s) I saw some pics of redlegs, and his mother looks a LOT like them. She has a longer snout, and she is a very brilliant gold color with shorter hair. I picked the little boy even though he has a longer snout and isn't as fluffy. Will he be just like her? I mean, I don't mind I just wonder if his hair will grow at all. He has very thick hair, and it's nice and soft but it's very short. |
:idontknow I think he is to small to tell, maybe if you post this at the breeder section, they know a lot!! |
I don't know anything about "redleg", but I do know CUTE! And he is that! |
1 Attachment(s) He does not look like a red legged Yorkie to me. I belive him to be gold and black. Buddy was exactally the same color as a pup and his golden color stayed very bright. I called it cooper but it's a true gold. He's adorable. Good luck with him. |
Can we see a picture of the mom? He may be too young to tell. |
Did you see both of the parents of your puppy? What did the fathers coat look like? He is cute! |
what is a redleg? I am a little naieve about this subject. |

what is a redleg? |
He is cute...do you have pics of the parents...the mother mostly..I am interested to what she looks like..I was just thinking of a redleg the other day and wondering what they look like...I will have to do a search on previous posts on this subject.. Dawn |
2 Attachment(s) You know I've never heard the term "redleg" yorkie before today. I researched old threads on them and it almost makes me wonder if Lacy might be one or tend towards being one anyway. Her hair is silky but coarser than it should be. She is very dark in color. Her nose is longer than a show quality yorkie but not as long as a silky or anything like that. Her hair also grows VERY slow. She'll be three in September and this is as long as her hair has gotten so far. |
Could she be pg with 6 wk old pups?? |
OMG Lacy, that second pic is too cute! She is such a little model! Again, what is a redleg? I can't find anything on it. |
I tried googling redleg, but no luck. What does it mean? Lack of hair growth?  |

3 Attachment(s) I was told when my Dylan was a puppy that I had a red legged yorkie. Here is a picture of him when he was 3 mths old and then one of him today at 20 mths old. He's the yorkie on the right. And the third picture is also a current one. Lacy and Kensington both look like red legged yorkies to me. It just means that they have a wiry type coat, their snout is a little longer and the hair doesn't grow very long. |

To the original poster, I think it's too early to tell with yours. I got Tatum at 9 weeks and yes her hair was longer than your pup's but I don't know what they typically look like at 6 weeks. I think only time will tell with yours. |
Too cute! Quote:

Redlegs have more of a wire type coat. Their hair grows extremely slow and the hair on the legs really don't grow at all. |
Very hard to tell... Think you'll have to give it a little time... When he grows more you should be able to tell... |
