Inappropriate Do you think there are certain places it is inappropriate to bring our babies? I'm helping to throw a baby shower in Nov. and was planning to take Vickie. It's very small and only close family. I've brought her to other family events. I was told it's inappropriate by someone else who is helping with the planning. What do y'all think? |
I guess it's a very objective situation. It depends on who is there. I would consider that not everyone likes (in our case LOVE) dogs. I know my mom would not like it very much as she is not a pet person at all. If you think that everyone there will be comfortable then go ahead. But it seems as if this one person that told you that may have been asking you not to in a subtle way. Just my opinion. |
If it's close family, I don't see why not. You'll probably be holding her post of the time anyway, right? |
I'd ask the ppl planning the shower out of respect and consider the place of the event of course.. It won't hurt to ask.. Good luck! |
It seems everyone else is ok with it. I asked everyone else throwing it and they said ok. Vickie is a very good and socal dog. |
There should be no problem then. Is this at a restaurant or at someone's house. |
It's a hall and we're having food brought in. |
Oh okay. It seems like it's okay if you take her then. If everyone is okay and the girl being honored if fine with it then you're good. Are you concerned about someone thinking maybe it's bad idea? |

No way. Hey Yorkies are high class. LOL. I took my Holly to my son's birthday party which was also at a hall and I served pizza. I had her in a backpack carrier the whole time. |
I say don't let one person influence you.. as long as everyone else is okay with it, let the majority rule :) |
That's a good idea, where did you get that carrier from? |
Petsmart. But if I'd known there was pink, I would get that instead.lol. |
Thanks, I'm so getting pink. I love pink. |
Yeah. I'm getting one too. LOL. |
Dog Lover's? As much as we love our own Babies.......I have 3 myself. I would and could take Artie every where because he is very well Trained and Socialized, Abigail on the other hand is a Gaurd Dog and tiny Tiffany Aloha is only 4 lbs. and quite delicate, not as sturdy as her huge 10 lb. Parents, she steals the show with her Personality and being too cute! They all attract much too much attention wher ever they go:confused: . Unfortunetly not all People are Dog Lovers and not all people will Love your Dogs, even though to us they are our Pride & Joy and our World! IMO it depends on where the event is being held? How close are you to the rest of the Guest? My immediate Family would not mind since both my Sister and my Cousins all have Yorkies, but If I bought mine without asking or discussing it and it was "Appropriate" they would be upset b/c they did not bring theirs! But if it was Not "Appropriate" and I did bring mine, my Family would let me know! As a general rule though "Dogs" are'nt what I would personally want around my Food or at any kind of "Bridal or Baby Shower" only because at these kinds of Parties or Events, there are usually alot of "Activities" or "Games" that they play as groups, the object is to have Fun and participate with the other Humans/Guest? No offense but if your anything like me? I am with mine 24/7, except to go to work 4 nights a week. You might want to consider the other "Guest", how they would react and consider their feelings? It's quite touchy but simple it might be more Diplomatic and Fun for you to go Solo? Yorkies have a habit of stealing the Spot Light and unless your planning to be part of the "Entertainment"? Yorkie Mom's deserve to Party too! Just remember "Seperation Anxiety" is a 2 way street:p Good Luck in deciding, Aloha |
I'd say if the mom-to-be says it's ok - then it's ok. end of question. |
I would also check with the place where it is being held. Last weekend we had a family reunion at a community center where my cousin's daughter works. They gave us the whole building for free! My cousin and I planned the whole thing, and we both are dog lovers. I really didn't think that it was any big deal to have a dog there, but I did not plan to take mine. Well, my cousin has a Coton, and she takes it EVERYWHERE. She works for American Airlines and travels with it. She wanted to bring it to the reunion, and I asked my cousin's daughter if it would be okay. She said "no". Well, Joy brought her anyway. :( I felt bad for Liz who had the responsibility of making sure the place was in good shape when we left it and was really in charge there. Everything was just fine in the end, but when someone (Liz is a college student) has a big responsibility, and her job is part of it, I would really think that it should be respected. Ask first and respect the answer. |
HOnestly, I wouldn't take her. I don't think that any dog small or large belongs at a baby shower. That is a special day that some people only get to have once. I would hate for something to happen like an "accident" you have to stop and clean up. This is the mom to be's day and out of respect for her I don't think I would take her. |
I wouldn't take her either. You know how it is, our babies tend to "steal the show" wherever they go. The mom-to-be should be the focus of the shower. |
I think you should always ask first before you bring your furbaby to someones home. Some people would be happy, and some just plain angry. |
