I got scammed...she emailed me...help!
 

Okay I sent her another email and asked her what was seriously going on. Was she sending the puppy or not. I told her I didn't even care at that point if it was a fraud I just wanted to know if he was coming!

Well she said that she felt so bad and that it wasn't a scam and that she wanted to send him but could not afford the customs charge of $200. She also gave me her phone number to call her to get it worked out.

I just don't know if I believe her now. The puppy is coming from Nigeria (she used to live in L.A.). Has anyone ever shipped internationally? Was there a customs charge?

There will be customs charges from nigeria. I'm glad she emailed you! Ask her to refund your money and get a yorkie from the US.

I was reading your thread and when you said "Nigeria" I got goosebumps!!!!!!!
I was being scammed from Nigeria.....U.S. customs intercepted....KNOW FOR SURE THAT IT IS NOT LIGIT!!!!! I feel like if I type in all CAPs, you will somehow read this more quickly. I even got a letter from U.S. Customs, and know that if you loose money, there isn't a darn thing that could be done about it. They said so many scams are coming out of Nigeria that it isn't funny! I bet I could QUOTE YOU some words she used....like "God Bless" and things to make you think she was a good person. The breeder who recommeded needs to be thoroughly investigated!!! If she just believed a "story" that is one thing, but if she is in on it, IT IS ANOTHER!!!!! You can call U.S. Customs and they will tell you everything and more that I am. I could go on and on......

Please try to get the info for the airport..and see exact ly how much it costs ...then tell the woman that you are willing to pay the customs charge via credit card directly to the sirline..and she pay the cash..if it's legit it shouldn't be a problem..but as I stated in the previous thread..Nigeria is known for their scams

STAY FAR FAR AWAY FROM NIGERIA DOGS.

About 2 years ago, the FINALLY caught a woman who had been claiming to ship dogs to hundreds of people. SHe's ripped off family after family. When they finally caught up with her, the government took over here in the us (since she was doing business here they have juristiction).

Up until that point she scammed million from people.

Oh abbeysue, DON'T DO IT! Call U.S. Customs. Don't be surprised if the woman says (in broken English) that she will mail you a certified check and that you need to HURRY and cash it and send the money to her and that will take care of it. She will say that she will add EXTRA money to it so you can take your share OUT OF IT. Call your bank, they will tell you that you cannot even trust a money order any more....you still have to wait as long as you would for a check to clear because there are so many fraudulent ones. Wait and see, it is all a part of the scam!

See, when you HURRY to cash it, (she'll probably want to send more than $1,000) it will be coming out of your account because it will B O U N C E ! Chances are though, you'd never get it because Customs intercedes everything coming out of Nigeria right now.

This is so strange!!! There was a piece on Dateline just last Friday about scams from Nigeria. DON'T SEND MONEY!!! How much have you sent already? The CIA or FBI are currently doing investigations on these rings of organized crime - make no mistake, that' what they are. You should report both the puppy owner and the breeder. They are clearly both in on this together.

I hate to say it, but "Take the Loss". Overseas transactions are very hard to enforce. Many companies in the U.S. are now using overseas collection agencies to collect bad debts. The reason is that overseas operations can do and say anything and nothing can be done to them. Don't Walk, but RUN away from this. You might chalk it up to a very good lesson learned. I do believe that this person has been baiting you all along. She was intentionally avoiding you to get you to persue her more. It's working and now she thinks she has you on the hook and reeling you in.

I wouldn't send anymore money, and ask for your money back or tell her you will have the authorities investigate her. I almost got scammed selling a horse. Buyer be ware.

This scam has been going on for a long time in the horse world!! Do not send this woman another cent and call the authorities!! Julz is right, please listen to her.

There was a program on Sunday about a scam being run from Nigeria. I cannot say for sure you are being scammed, but please don't throw good money after bad.. cut your losses now and look for a dog here in the USA... you don't want to deal with international issues.

It was either 60 minutes or Dateline... I saw it! Don't feel safe just bc you have a phone number!!! They gave this guy a phone number on the undercover investigation too.. someone even answered, but it was still a SCAM!!! SCAM!!! SCAM!!!

I was willing to spend about $500 but I sent her $250 so now I don't know. I know that it is not very realistic to think of getting a puppy for that much. I just don't know what to do...now I may not be able to get one at all.

I live in Utah but if it was someone who was on the up and up I wouldn't mind paying to ship it.

i inquired about a little gal about a month ago on a webpage...

they sent me pics of 4 little girls and said I could have my pick of the three but one was spoken for. I requested details of their pricing, pedigree, their weights and where these girls were located.

The next days email I only recieved weight information no pedigree, or location, or pricing so I didnt respond back.

A couple of days later they wrote me

I found a breeder in my area by going to puppyfind.com. This may be a place to start. Good luck, I am sorry it didn't work out.

Make sure you get a refund.One of the other YT gals mentioned threatening that you will have her investigated if she doesn't return your money. That will probably work. In the mean time I will look around.

Abby - that's such a shame about what happened - One of the BEST things about these kinds of forums is you can ask questions about a breeder and you may get a heads up BEFORE you send money - It's too bad you didn't come here to ask about this type of purchase before you made that awful woman richer - LOTS of people would have jumped in and said Don't do it !! Since it happened -

I'd still try to go after your money - you may not see it but at least you can alert the authorities and others about this - try to share your experience with others - that's how lots of these people are exposed.....I'm so sorry for you - Hope you can find a new puppy that you can afford....The sad thing is you're out the money and STILL don't have your baby - that's a double whammy ...

I live in Cedar City Utah. The woman who is trying to sell me the puppy that I don't know is a scam or not is in Lagos State Nigeria. Do you have a phone book there that you could look up her name and give me her phone number?

If you can find a phone number I'll be amazed - you can look up phone numbers on Smart Pages or the White Pages online - most published phone numbers are on the net now - you can also do reverse look-ups ....

That is just horrible. There are sooo many scams out there right now. It is so sad that we have to be cautious of EVERYTHING! I hope you find your perfect puppy!

This all reminds me of something that happened to my husband and I on EBAY. We were trying to sell our old computer (about 6 years old) on Ebay. Well we were only asking like $400 for it. Well, this guy from Nigeria emailed us and told us that he was very interested and that he wanted it. Well, I called UPS to ask how much it would be to send all of it to Nigeria from here, and he told me about $2500!!! Well I told the guy from Nigeria how much it would be, and he was fine with it. He said he would send the full $2900 as a money order to us. Well, I talked to my mom about it, and she was like "Something isn't right with that"... "Why would this guy be willing to pay THAT much money for a 6 year old computer?!? When he could probably buy A NEW ONE for LESS than half that price!"
So, we ended up selling it to someone in the US. And we never got that guys money order either. It was VERY, VERY strange.
I would NEVER want to purchase a puppy from anywhere out of the US. I would be very, very cautious dealing with these types of people. Good luck to you. I am sure you will be able to find a puppy here, instead of having to resort to a "breeder" in a foreign country.

you can usually get yorkies in oklahoma for a pretty decent price.... if your intrested i can check it out for you!

A friend of mines husband got scammed on Ebay the SAME way - only it was a camera - It's awful because on Ebay you never expect that to happen !

small price to pay, girl. Write it off at this point. You don't want these people to get any more info on you. If you gave a credit card#, cancel the card and get a new one. Try to report it but just as easily walk away from it. Don't feel bad because there was probably never a puppy to begin with. The lady I got Chewy from has pups on her site for $800.
