Aunt Priscilla giving my puppy human food! Hello to all.:) My aunt Priscilla, who is staying with me for the time being, is giving my Boobah human food! I serve my aunt her dishes and out of the corner of my eye she'll throw a piece of toast or a scrap of sirloin steak her way! I told my aunt Priscilla, please don't give her any food, because that's the reason she won't eat her own food. No wonder when she passes her food dish she looks at it like "Huh, you think Im going to eat that?" Then she puts her little tail in the air and keeps walking. Boobah has been drinking a lot of water lately, she goes to the bathroom frequently. Now, don't get me wrong, I love my aunt Priscilla dearly, but I have to teach Boobah to eat her own food. All I would need is for her to get worms or something from human food.I don't want to get in an argument with my aunt but Boobah is my baby, and I will take care of her to the best of my ability. Aunt Priscilla says, "she looks hungry and scrawny" and I told her "no she doesn't, she's just the right size she's supposed to be!" The other day I caught my aunt giving her a bite of her oatmeal cookie. Any comments?! |
There's lots of human foods that are 'good' for dogs - perhaps the two of you could agree on what your aunt is 'allowed' to feed your baby: baby carrots, fruit, veggies, cheerios, etc. |
My 87 yr old grandmother tried to feed my Schnauzer a prune! She has Altzhiemers, so there is no point even trying to reason with her.I also caught her giving the dog chocolate covered nuts! My Gmother says" HE gets tired of eating the same thing every day" At first I told her it was not a HE but a SHE. After the 10th time I just gave up. so, not only is she feeding my dog garbage, she has given it a sex change! Older people have their own ideas about things. It can be hard to get them to change. I would tell her it is not healthy for boobah, and hope she will understand.Good luck!:) |
I would tell her she can feed Boobah "dessert" AFTER she eats her food. Then give her a list of OK things. We always give our dogs a TINY taste of whatever we are eating, but always after we eat (so they don't beg) and they also always eat their own food first. |
Yes. I have a comment. Pancreatitis. Yorkies are prone to it. Read up on canine pancreatitis by doing a search on this site or googling canine pancreatitis. It can be fatal. |

Most human foods are okay for them to eat unless they are fatty and full of salt and seasoning. That can cause pancreatitis, and you do not want to have to deal with that. Tell this lady that the dog does not get food from the table because you don't want her to beg or get sick. But after meals...Apples(peeled and cut up), carrots, green beans, most fruits and vegetables are fine for them. Make sure she doesn't give your baby onions, grapes, or raisins, and most seeds of fruit are toxic, so make sure not to give the seeds. |
