I got scammed...
 
I am so bummed but my yorkie is not coming. This woman who told me that she would send him if I paid the shipping cost has taken my money and run. It is so weird but I am not mad at all...I am just so heartbroken. I have been given pictures of him, fallen in love with him, and now he is not coming. I wanted to bad to bring a Yorkie into our home and now with the money that we have given her I will not be able to afford to purchase a different puppy.

Just wanted everyone to be aware. Please be smarter than I was.

She was actually referred to my by a breeder. The breeder said that this woman's 2-year old daughter had died and she has been forced to relocate because of her job and because of the location she wasn't going to be able to keep her 3 Yorkies. So she was looking for good homes for them. I can't believe that I fell for this!

I am just devastated because I had totally prepared for him to come and had already fallen in love with him. And now I can't afford to get another puppy.

Abby, Stay on that breeder who recommended her! Turn her in to the police for fraud! Do something about this! Who is she? PM me if you don't want to say on public thread! This is inexcusable and cruel!

She emailed me this morning and said that when she went to put the puppy on the plane they said they needed another $200 for customs charge. I told her because of all the fraud that was going on everywhere that I was wondering if she could fax me a copy of the puppy's plane ticket and asked her if she would be willing to send the puppy and then I would pay her as soon as he arrived. Well she just never emailed me back and that was over 12 hours ago. I have since sent her 3 emails asking what is happening and why she hasn't emailed me back. I told her if she really does have a puppy I just want to get him here. But I have never heard back from her.

Do you have her name? Look her up on www.switchboard.com and call her. Call the police tomorrow if you haven't heard from her! Please call the breeder who recommended her and see if she can straighten this out!

I'm not a lawyer, but I believe this might be mail fraud or wire fraud. I'd check into it if you haven't heard from her in a day or two!

I'm sorry this happened to you. I hope you find out who did this. Call the police ASAP to file a report. That's the first step -- getting it documented.

Where is this breeder located??? There is no customs charge for domestic flights!!! Both of my Yorkies flew and there was a plane/cargo ticket. Period!

I know that you are heartbroken, but Do not waste time... you need to let both the breeder and the woman you were going to get the yorkie from know that you are going to call the police and that you belong to a Yorkie forum with over three thousand members and this if you have not received a reply/response by a specified time that you are going to post their names and contact info publicly on this forum!!! Make sure you tell that breeder than her reputation will be ruined!

Oh man. Have you spoken to your breeder about this? Afterall, she was the one that recommended you. Perhaps you should wait until tomorrow to see if she responds. If she doesn't, I would question your breeder and ask why s/he recommended this person to you and tell her your story. I would be so upset and sad if I were you!

Another thing... where did you find this breeder? If she is a member of the YTCA, I would immediately get on the phone and report her! They are not liable, but the breeders that are on their site agree to follow a Code of Ethics and you should definitley let them know if someone is not abiding by that!

It sounds like maybe the breeder was in on this. Why else would she recommend someone so unscrupulous as this? I think you need to blow the whistle on that breeder too. I wouldn't be surprised if she and this person weren't one and the same...

tw4sw is absolutely correct on this! Something doesn't sound right. I would contact the police and file a report. Don't you have a phone number that you could contact her direct? I'd be all over this like white on rice!!!!!!

I am so sorry to hear that this has happened to you! If you can think of anything that could be helpful to you, let me know and I am all over it. I feel so bad...I just wish I could do something (like wring someone's neck)!

Where is the puppy flying from? I know to ship my puppy was $175. He didn't come from out of the country so I don't know if this "customs charge" is real or not. It all sounds fishy. If you do not hear from her I would contact the police or someone about fraud.

Ohh wow, Im so sorry that this happened to you. Please report thenm to the police. To me that breeder was in it too. It sounds too fishy. Dont let it pass, fight it. This was a scam and fraud. Good luck. Please keep us posted.

I am so sorry to hear this story! You must be so heartbroken! Please pursue this...with the police, the better business bureau and any other place that can be of help! It is bad enough that you were swindled, but to tear your dreams apart really sucks! I'll be thinking of you and checking back to see what's happening! Maybe I'm being naive, but I'm hoping there's some way you will still get your little yorkie! Best wishes!

Now I really don't know what to do!!!!

She emailed me back and said that she was at the airport all day yesterday trying to get him on the plane. She said that she has to have the $200 customs charge to ship him. He is coming from Nigeria. That is where her job was relocated to. And she gave me her phone number and said that I should call her. I just am not sure.

Has anyone shipped their puppy internationally? Is there a custom's charge?

Why don't you call the airport directly andthe airline (get the info from her)...and then find out exactly whats going on...you could even pay be credit card if there is an extra charge and cover your back...but I have heard of alot of scams that go on from Nigeria and some other countries (hope this is not one)..hope all goes well

I'm beginning to believe that the pictures of the puppy you fell in love with, probably never existed. It does for sure, sound like a scam. Authorities must be notified.

Nigeria is the dog scam capital of the world...breeders get emails daily asking for dogs..but they want to pay with a check thatneeds your bank account number or you have to cash it and send the balance...DON'T FALL FOR IT!!!!!!
