Walking like a zombie! So the other day I bought the cutest sweater!! I come home, showed my husband (who thinks putting clothes on them is dumbest thing he has ever heard... I put him in his place) and ran to my baby. After a bit of a struggle it was finally on! She looked adorable. So I get up to go and get my camera and call her name to follow. I turn around and she is walking like I had just put two split boards on her arms and she can't bend them. She also was putting all her weight on her back legs and lightly walking on her front. The only way I could describe it... ZOMBIE DOG!!! I was laughing so hard! But anyways... my question is how do I get her to get use to all the fun clothes? Because they are just so dang cute! |
The first day i put a sweater on Dior she literally frozed for a few mins and then she was fine. I would just prasie her and hopefully in no time she will get use to it. You should tape it i would love to see her antics:D |
LOL Kodi will do the same thing till it has been on fro a while. But He refuses to sleep in anything. he like to sleep in the buff LOL |
I put a shirt on Wobie the day I brought him home, and he's loved clothes since then. If I were you, I'd just get a very light t-shirt and start with that, rather than a sweater. Give her treats and praise when she wears it, and take it off after her wearing it for 5 minutes or so, and then work on getting her to wear it for longer increments of time. |

You can take a small dog harness and put it on so she gets used to the weight of something on her back and then when you put the clothes on it is not so shocking to her. It took Max about a week. we used the harness then one day I put a sweater on him and he ws fine. |

That was funny! Zombie dog! I can totally picture it! |
Make having clothes on a fun and positive thing. Put a harness over the shirt and take her for a little walk. Always put clothes on either under or over her harness and then get out for a fun walk, or a ride to a pet store. Generally you have to start putting clothes on them when they are just about 12 weeks old in order for them to quickly adjust, but doing it later on works if they associate it with something fun. |

That's what I do with Lucy. I put t-shirts on her in the mornings on the weekends. I'm hoping that when winter comes she'll be used to them so I can put sweaters on her. She seems to be used to the shirts now. |
Bengi walks like a zombie when I make him wear something with legs! he hates that! and it's really hillarious the way he walks! |
aww thats too funny! my little Bella does almost the same thing!! she is 8 months old and has been wearing clothes since i got her but lately i put clothes on her and she absolutely will NOT move for anything! not even food! and if she does decide to move she does like an army crawl move....its hilarious!!! |
I put a t-shirt on Sukoshi the day I brought her home, and she's had more clothes than me ever since! Like Anna said above, maybe start with something lighter, and work your way into the sweater. Be patient, and hopefully she'll learn to love clothes like the rest of us and our furbabies! Oh, and I'd LOVE to see video of her Zombie Walk! |
I just have that picture in my mind:lol tears, the first time I put clothes on Phoebe she rolls in the floor like she was in fire:rolleyes: it was so funny to watch, just give her time:aimeeyork |
